How do you figure? You remember canelo garnered the most viewers for an HBO boxing after dark card.Dumb****s seem to forget canelo has a bigger fanbase in Mexico than he does here. Have mayweather headline a card on dates other than may 5th or Sept 15th see how many ppv buys he gets.Better yet he should headline a card on July 4th with fighters other than cotto or canelo

I think it's great. Saul wants to fight Mayweather, and he's willing to fight Trout first. I can't see how anyone could have a problem with that.

Cabnelo NEEDS Mayweather, it's not the other way around. Spin it as you will now.

I don't think Canelo's the one piggybacking entirely

Mayweather might be the headliner, but GoldenBoy putting Canelo on the undercards helps Floyd with sales just as much as it helps Canelo with gaining exposure. (look at some of the numbers Canelo has drawn on HBO, as someone else said his BAD fight was one of the highest watched of all time)

and Canelo paired with Floyd is another appeal for the PPV.

Think of it like a big Hollywood movie, with a big name co-star (in this case Canelo) to go with the main star attraction.

Canelo's last fight was on Showtime. He wouldn't even do 600,000 buys by himself.

Man I'm usually with you on Canelo, but you really have too much faith in Sulaiman or any of the sanctioning bodies. They'll probably threaten to strip Canelo for fighting "boozing drug abusing troublemaker" Trout

1 million views for a free broadcast is nothing. Boxing After Dark, on average, does over 1 million views for much lesser hyped fights. IMO, Canelo doesn't have the leverage to be this petulant, and Mayweather doesn't need him at all. Canelo wouldn't need Mayweather either, if he actually decided to defend his title against a ranked JMW.

based on the fact that people like doc, one if not the biggest supporters of canelo, is now coming out and saying that if canelo fights angulo or maidaina next hes going to throw down hate and blow up canelos twitter.

you may not believe this but gbp and suliaman's pr people read this forum and an host of others. and right now, there is serious hate and doubt against canelo. its over. gbp knows that canelo must fight top ten or he will be stripped. suliaman is on record saying that canelo had to fight either vanes or lara before cotto so even though the fight ended in a draw, the theory of restoring credibility to the 154 wbc belt, imo, still remains.

canelos going to fight trout on may 4.

he doesnt have very many options and theres not a single person here other than the entirely clueless that will conitinue to back him if he goes the way of maidana or angulo in his next fight.

if you dont believe me just ask Doc.

btw, cut out the blue ink. its uncalled for and obnoxious.

Sulaiman spent a year saying Chavez had to fight Martinez next or be stripped and Chavez still managed to get 3 fights in during that time and probably could have stretched it out longer. Considering the WBC's flexibility when it came to a favored Mexican having to face an actual mandatory, I see little reason to expect them to hold Alvarez to a higher standard when he doesn't even have a mandatory. Hell Sulaiman actually declared a Trout fight would make Alvarez more likely to be stripped given the WBC's new no unifications policy. I think you overrated Sulaiman's sensitivity to bad PR; he hasn't given a **** about such things for a long time now.

how do you define free broadcast? SHOWTIME is premium cable channel, which you have to be a paid subscriber

it's not like the fight was on ABC or NBC .. basic cable

PPV's ..JMM-Pac 4 and Mayweather-Cotto make a huge deal when they get a little over $1 Million buys .. or even 1.5 Million obviously at $65 or more a pop it is a big deal since they generate more money

1.5 Million PPV viewers is obviously more revenue than say $1.5 Million watching a fight on HBo or Showtime.

but for boxing which is not a big time mainstream sport, generally speaking if you get over a million viewers it is a pretty impressive number, even if it happens on average with BAD

shucks the national Championship game had 26 Million viewers witch trumps that easily.

especially all things considered with the madness over Canelo's opponent (first P-Will, Kirkland priced out, Ortiz broken jaw) getting 1 Million viewers is nothing to knock

and Mayweather might not need Canelo, but if he fights Guerrero with no Canelo and a **** under card, his PPV buys will take a hit.
