I'm a big fan of matchroom and their fighters but Prizefighters are beginning to take the ****. We have one in January and one in February which is bad enough but the one in February is a disgrace. Audley Harrison is 41 and Martin Rogan isn't fan behind him in the ages and matchroom and Sky are going to hype the hell out of this. Prizefighters are acceptable when the fighters are up and coming prospects or the fighters are trying to rebuild their career but not when the fighters are close to picking up their pension.

Matchroom have 20 dates to fill with Sky and can't do it without these substandard Prizefighters which is laughable in itself. Why agree to 20 shows a year when you can't fulfill it? Apparently we are meant to be seeing big sold arena's and deeper bills yet were watching old men fight at the York Hall.

Sorry if this has already been covered but todays announcement of Audley's return in another Prizefighter has wound me up.

Totally agree, it is a waste of a TV date and not what the fans want at all. It will come to a point where fighters are in their 4-5 Prizefighter which is ridiculous

Eddie does not care what the fans think, he could at least go out of his way to distance Prizefighter from boxing as much as possible, do an MMA prizefighter by all means but using boxers in a boxing format is devaluing the sport.

The casual fans like the format, which is what the sport needs.

Big viewing figures = big budget = better fights.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. It is hardly damaging the sport.

I don't see the issue with the Prizefighter format. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but there's a reason why Sky want to keep showing them. If they bring in casual fans, then it's a good thing for boxing. it's also a great opportunity for the fighters, who get a chance to win a very good sum of money for a nights work. I know it's not for boxing purists, and like I said, I'm not the biggest fan of it, but it's not the worst thing in boxing right now. I prefer Prizefighter to the meaningless cards you see on a routine basis, which have a constant stream of mismatches on the undercard.

Prizefighter can be a really fun night. Sometimes it isn't, sometimes it is, it just depends. Personally, I prefer proper boxing cards, like the Bellew/Chilemba one, but I can't hate on Prizefighter because it serves a purpose and it's not the most offensive thing in boxing right now.

Anything which brings in casual fans isn't a bad thing.

Isnt this just the warm up for the Brook fight, im guessing they think audley will bring in the tv numbers and they hope some of them will carry on through the night for the brook fight.

Totally disagree, so he is using what little TV dates he has to please casual fans who mostly have no interest in a proper boxing card, while pissing off an element of the regular boxing fans.

I have no problem with a Prizefighter on a week night on separate dates from the 20 he has been given. The fact is he is using TV dates that should be for boxing.

To be fair to Eddie Hearn, I imagine Sky are the ones who decide how many Prizefighters are shown. It seems to do consistently good ratings for them. It's probably a big reason they love Eddie Hearn and have him as their sole promoter.

I'm not a great fan Prizefighter but I understand why It's popular the format is so simple and great for casuals especially those who enjoy the rat-a-tat tat of a 3 Round fight.

I honestly feel format needs rejuvenating It just seems stale.

  11. I hate being mugged off.

    It's a diabolical liberty.

I don't have a problem with prizefighter, as much as I'd rather see a proper card I still always watch them.. The problem for me though is matchroom agreeing to 20 dates and could use 10 on prizefighter's the way eddie is throwing them out

That would make sense, so SKY is actually showing prizefughter and the Brook fight/card? Brook card being the main one.

If it was a competition for prospects or a competition full of decent contenders, it's not a bad idea at all IMO. But the disparity in quality at times makes the thing look like a joke.
