In a way it is a testament to both of their legacies. Both men have provided so much to the sport, so many great battles, that even their good fight against each other is overshadowed by many of their other bouts.

I'm confused. Its usually the first fight to be brought up when discussing fun technical fights.

Beat me to it IB.As a hardcore MAB fan,I had it close but just for JMM at first viewing, and just fine for Juanma second time around.
Add to that I've admitted many times that when a particular favourite is involved,I find it hard to score subjectively. And even though I was a big Marquez fan even then,I always rooted for Barrera,no matter who he fought.
And Marquez is to me now what Barrera was to me then.
As for the original question, any Barrera loss not being brought up is just fine with me.;)

shameful commentary by the HBO panel. Marquez was tapping that ass. also Barrera should have been disqualified for unloading on Marquez when he had both gloves on the canvas.

I could have read The Hunger Games while waiting for Nady to step in and call the knockdown. It's a fighter's job to keep fighting, MAB did nothing wrong, in fact he hesitated far longer than he should have. If he would have just kept punching there wouldn't be any controversy and it's just possible the momentum of the fight could have changed.

JMM wasn't 'tapping that ass' but I do agree that he won pretty clearly. I'd LIKE to see it the other way, but it looked pretty clear to me then and it does now as well.

It was a truely great fight. I have trouble watching it again however, the HBO bias for Barrera just makes it unenjoyable for me.

I think it was overshadowed by everything else going on but its underrated for sure

Great use of the uppercut by Marco seems it negated JMM's attack at times ..From a technical standpoint it was an excellent fight as well.

Exactly why I dislike watching it. I hate how Bias HBO gets with certain fighters.
