At 21, Is there any heavyweight in history that would be able to beat Mike Tyson?

Incredible that Haye wasnt able to stop the big guy when he had him so hurt... how did he manage to **** that up?

 

I've never seen a 21 year old fighter anywhere near as developed as Tyson was. So I say no.

I'm Ali's biggest fan, but Tyson would have definite chance here. Tyson's handspeed would certainly surprise Ali and particularly early on Tyson would be a real danger.
People make the comparison with Cooper and Frazier but really Ali was clowning around with Cooper who don't forget had a mighty left hook. He would be focused against a Tyson like he was against Liston. You can't compare Frazier with Tyson style wise, he was the ultimate swarmer,Tyson's best work was from mid range.
If you look at Ali at 22 against Liston his movement,speed and his skills,he was extremely impressive. Tyson would simply never had remotely faced anyone like that.
After some anxious moments early on I think Ali eventually outboxes and busts up Tyson,saps his morale and stops him late on.

 

I would say Tyson his left hook is much mightier than the one from Cooper.
A young Tyson is simply too much for any young hw ever.

Of course Tyson's punches were harder and more explosive than Henry's but Ali presented Cooper with the opportunity and he took it,I don't think that would happen against Tyson.
I've got no problem with people going with Tyson on this though because at 21 he really was something.

 

Interesting question. It seems unlikely. Ali doesn't seem impossible though, he was very mobile and would at the very least compete well with Tyson at that age. Joe Louis also debuted at 20 years old, not sure how good he was at that point, but we all know he could bang naturally and had size on his side.

 

Louis was a bit smaller than Mike actually. Usually weighed in right around 200.

Anyway, there's none that I would favor. Tyson was primed at 21. The only other heavyweights who were close to their prime around the same age really are Ali and Patterson. Ali was several years shy of his and probably to open to the left hook and inexperienced to take the win. His physical strength wasn't really all that developed by that point either - well off from how functionally strong he would be when at his best. Patterson would basically just be going up against a considerably bigger, more powerful, more durable version of himself who was every bit as quick and skillful. Not likely to go more than a round.

 

I think Ali and Foreman have a better than 50/50 chance. Not sure if Smokin' Joe was close enough to his peak at 21? Honest question.
