The biggest falling out I ever had with my da was when he wouldn't let me see Paul fight Johnny Owen up in Ebbw Vale , mind you I was a schoolboy in those days and can now see he was right , couldn't then though and was close to tears lol

So many great fighters that Australian boxers have taken on and unfortunately most Australian boxing fans are unaware of this, they have a better knowledge of Mundine and Green's opponents.

However It would be hard to surpass Thompson vs Duran. Hector fought him in Panama City while Duran was the Lightweight Champion of the world, that would of been an amazing if not terrifying experience. Duran is such an icon, in particular to Hispanic boxers and an idol to so many great boxers and world champions.

Moore was pretty green when he came out here.

Henry Armstrong went on to win his three world titles in three weight divisions within a year of beating our very own Alf Blatch so thats pretty much my number one.

Id completely forgotten about Griffo and his fights with Gans. Definitely up there.

As did Colin Bell - Sam Langford, Joe Jeanette, Sam McVey, Gunboat Smith, Tom Heeney, Gus Ruhlin, Battling Levenski and Dave Smith.

Not too shabby for someone who didnt start to train at boxing till his late 20s.

That fight was hilarious, the commentator's were saying, "it looks like Loporto doesn't know how to box at all"
