Why?

He looked solid to me. I was surprised. He was slick and could box. I think he moved too much and lacked enough power to gain his opponents respect, but he was solid.

Honestly, he looked like a poor man's Martinez.

It's a good fighter to get under your belt, especially if your intention is to eventually fight Martinez. You get used to someone who uses a similiar style, with similiar moves.

The difference obviously, is Martinez experience and power.

No, Proksa's defence was not good, it was atrocious and was tailor made for GGG. You don't keep your hands down against someone like GGG who I admit has power in both hands. His movement was okay but was massively off balanced which I think attributed to the first knockdown in round 1.

Golovkin has got good balance, agreed, however him controlling the distance is only based on him fighting boxers smaller than him (i.e Ouma) so I'm going to hold out on that point until he takes on a good middleweight.

His flaws in defence could ultimately be his downfall because his chin is untested and if someone like Quillin catches Golivkin with that brutal left hook of his, it could be lights out for GGG. His speed is okay but compared to the likes of Martinez and Geale, his speed is not the best however I think his come forward style compensates for this as his ability to cut off the ring is quite good for someone his size based on his amateur days and his fight against Proksa.

He does have the potential to be a star but what pisses me off is that the ******s on this forum want to start throwing around idiotic claims from and rumors about the guy sparring heavyweights and and having the power of a heavyweight whilst claiming EVERYONE is ducking him and that he is the future king of the MW division, before he has even faced a legit top 5 middleweight. Wait till the guy has proven he can hang with the best then make those statements otherwise they are gonna end up looking like the Lucian Bute fans. No doubt that he can be the three you mentioned but they also have the tools to beat him which his idiot fans seem to have a hard time coming to terms with.
