His foot speed is better than Manny's, you obviously haven't seen much of Lomachenko. He holds his feet and stays in mid to close range a lot now but when he's on the outside his foot speed is blinding, and more importantly he's always balanced unlike Pac.

Lomachenko does have very good footspeed but i don't think it's as fast as Manny's when it comes to simply closing distance, i dont know if i can think of anyone as fast as his for that but when Manny jumps into range firing punches he leaves his head upright which leaves him available to counters which Marquez exploited for the KO.

Vasyl uses alot of head movement or waits for the opponent to throw then slips and counters to initiate closing distance which leaves him alot less vulnerable. He's just as good at working angles as Manny and has better balance.

He doesn't use it as much these days but around 08/09 he used to jump into range sometimes like Manny does, see his fights against Sultonov at the '08 olympics and against Vodopiyanov at the '09 worlds. He likes to fight more on the inside now but I'm sure he hasn't lost that ability. He's more efficient with his movement now so I think that's why people can't recognise his speed and athleticism, he isn't a Jones or Pac who throws themselves around for the sake of it.

No broner wouldn't frustrate the hell out of Vasyl I can see him giving him some dificulties but nothing he can't overcome. If anything you could argue Vasyl would give broner more problems with his unique style.I ask you the same what what fighter has broner fought that is better than vasyl?

That makes sense going off what his wiki says.
Some people thought it was this year which isn't the case.
I'll be watching he looks exciting :good

what I cant understand is why isnt this considered a pro fight?

3 minute rounds, no vests, no headgear, same scoring system. Its basically pro boxing, should it not go on his pro record?

It probably should go down as a pro fight but maybe doing so they lose out on being able to box in the amatuers, for the Olympics. Some of the fighters in the WSB have pro records though before signing up.

Daniele Limone has a Pro record of 10 - 1 fought Andrew Selby week 2.

It's seen as semi-pro (whatever that is) given that both amateurs and pro's with certain records (15 or less bouts I believe) can enter.

Agreed. I do not think that Vasyl closes quite as quickly as Manny does. As you indicated, I cannot think of many in the history of the sport who did. Nonetheless it's safe to say that he has very good footspeed and certainly more than enough to be in the discussion for the quickest on their feet today.

You are also correct that Vasyl has better balance than Manny. Now I'm not suggesting that Loma will be the better fighter when all is said and done.
    Who the **** knows, right?

Rather I'm simply drawing attention to a rather obvious point to anyone with discerning eye for the finer aspects of the sport.

I've seen every Lomachenko fight at the London Olympics and almost every video i found on youtube. He does have good foot-speed and he has great balance. But talking about pure athletic ability, i don't think he can compete against Manny in that department. Manny could close the distance so fast his opponents simply couldn't see the punches coming (including Marquez). He's off-balance most of the time because he used to throw everything into each shot. But look at his fight against Cotto, he run circles around Cotto firing shots from unnortodox angles and always on balance. He's footwork get's very undarrated here.

Marquez caught Pacquiao that clean in the 4° fight because it's clearly Pac doesn't have his feed full under him and it was easy to predict his move (Pac was clearly over-anxious). In the first and second fights Marquez would find his way to counter Manny's rushes but not as effective because of the foot-speed. Actually i always thought Marquez had greater sucess when he fired first while on the back-foot, feinting and throwing long range shots.
