..seriously mate..Rugby League..and to a lesser extent Aussie Rules players;)..are hard kunts no matter which position they play..some tougher than others..
..sure some might need a team around them but there is a few exceptions..
..if I was trying to recruit fighters I'd start with the contact sports for sure..but that's just me..:good

You only need to be a hard **** when you're taking a beating.. that's not really the plan is it?

Gary Ablett Senior apparently beat anyone and everyone that wanted to get into the boxing ring with him at training. He would have been 95 Kgs at his best, had fast twitch fibre and incredibly explosive power and speed. He also may have been slightly unhinged, which only adds to the overall package

The Ablett's are a wild bunch, Gary had a lot of brothers.

Ablett Jr seems to of bucked the trend, but if he wanted to box,
he'd be a success - he is one talented lad.

Cyril Rioli would be the best of the current footballers,
he has boxing bloodlines and is apparently very handy in the ring himself.

Des Hedland was rumored to be very handy.

Wayne Carey would've beat Barry Hall, most say easily.
Apparently Carey was an animal in the ring.

    ROYCE HART !
Such a hard disciplined man who gave his heart, and played Aussie rules football for Richmond Football Club, and was paid the total of two suites to come over from Tasmania to play for the Tigers.......he became our grand final premiership captain.....in the late sixties and seventies; he would have cut his own throat to provide any advantage for his side...he played with injuries many times; probably would have weighed in at about Welterweight.....slight in weight compared to others, but so tough and resilient...and a continual match winner.

If he boxed like he played football, then you would probably see him as the tireless boxer, making the good moves, and grooves, and towards the end of the bout, knocking out his opponent.

Should have been handed a few Brownlow Medals....our Royce...and is a sort of Mahommed Ali to the Richmond Football Club.

All the Ablett boys had police records. The only one that didn't was their sister

Gary Snr's car once broke down bang smack in the middle of the city. He got out and simply went home. Left it where it was. He just didn't give a fvck :rofl

..you need to be a hard kunt just to make it into the ring..win lose or draw..
..most footy players have dealt with pain/injury and set backs just to stay on the footy field..some..not all are made of the right stuff for boxing..:good
