GGG vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr @160 - Who wins?

Due to his overwhelming size, I'm leaning towards Chavez, too. Would be a good fight, but I think GGG will be kept away from him. Chavez is probably the one middleweight who wouldn't be deterred by his power.

 

Poll results reflect a lot of naivety, I feel.

 

golovkin doesn't move that well around the ring, he picks his spots but it isn't constant movement.

 

The poll results reflect people remembering how limited Chavez Jr. is and has proven to be. Before he fought Lee, people were absolutely shitting on Chavez, but now he's the favorite after ko'ing Lee and having ONE good round against Martinez??? atsch

 

Limited isn't the word, he is utter dogshite. However I still feel Golovkin doesn't have enough to stop him, given his size and durability. Golovkin can't dance around the ring as Sergio did, staying away then using his speed to get in, land shots and get out again without eating anything dangerous from Jr. I feel GGG would take a lot of punishment, especially to the body, and be worn down towards the end of the fight. Chavez beats most Middleweights simply due to the fact that he's practically a Light Heavyweight on fight night and it took someone with the speed, skill and finesse of Martinez to beat him at the weight. Despite being a solid fighter, GGG has none of that, and his chin is an unknown quantity. Definitely feel he's worn down and stopped by the bigger man.

 

For all those people saying GGG has no defense...since when did Chavez Jr. become Pernell Whitaker?

Right...he didn't. He's still very hittable, doesn't have the lateral movement or the jab to run away and frustrate Golovkin, and he can't cut off the ring either. GGG's superior jab and offensive arsenal would win him a late TKO slugfest if he chose to do that, but he could also easily outbox Jr. behind the jab if he wanted to.

Martinez busted up Chavez pretty much all on the backfoot. He didn't sit down on anything all night really. What do you think Golovkin will do to him? Chavez will walk straight at a guy with great power, punch placement, and accuracy. He won't be able to take half the shots from Golovkin that he took from Martinez. Golovkin sits down on almost all of his shots. Bad night for Chavez. He can make the final bell if he shells up and throws 25-30 punches a round like he did against Martinez for the first 10 rounds of their fight, but if he opens up, GGG will have a field day with him.

I love it how people say Rosado somehow "exposed" Golovkin. He lost every round, got his face ripped to pieces, and his corner threw in the towel. All basically off of Golovkin's jab. He also got outlanded almost 3-1. If you come in just trying to survive, you'll last longer and it's harder to look good.

Still want to see this though, it'd do big numbers and hype up another Martinez opponent (doubt TR or Martinez allows it though, since Martinez wants another Chavez payday.)

 

GGG is still a great counter-puncher. People don't need to dance around to beat Chavez, did Molina? Did Zbik have his success running, in a fight that could've gone to him? No.

Just because that was Martinez's only way of winning that fight, doesn't mean that there aren't a plethora of other ways to beat Julio. There have been examples of it for all to see. As big as Chavez is, he couldn't push Sergio around, even when he had him cornered, why? Cause he was eating hard shots that made him think.

You think for one second, Golovkin wouldn't be beating Chavez to the punch for the majority of the fight? I would go on to say, that Golovkin beats him down in the middle of the ring, with crisp counters and hooks.

JCC stops this guy. Seriously. GGG is too willing to trade and trading with a guy 2-3 (on fight night) weight classes above you is never a good idea. JCC inherited daddy's granite chin also

 

Unfortunately for JCC even his daddy's chin isnt good enough to take GGG power for 12 rounds. JCC would be foolish to trade with a guy of GGG's experience, prowess and willingness to answer everything with a harder punch. The perception that JCC walks through GGG is laughable and wishful thinking at best.

 

Chavez Jr might be a bum.
But he is a cruiserweight and GGG is a middleweight.

But he can't eat shots forever though.

 

So what exactly has GGG done to overshadow Chavez...beat Rosado, Proska? Is there any doubt Junior beats the **** out of either one as well?

 

I agree. I think GGG could do better against Martinez, but head to head, Chavez Jr. seems more dangerous in a fire fight given his durability, size, and volume.

 

I really rate the Chavez prior to Martinez higher than after the title match. Chavez didn't or couldn't execute a body attack was very negative and was appeared lost in some periods. The only thing that he reaffirm was is solid chin and showed good heart. He would probably make more money fighting Martinez and Ward at this point and still maintain the current Chavez image.
