    as I said, I've done something very similar (included ranked contenders and highlighted those in the hall) and Clark wasn't highlighted so I wondering if I missed something.

    I agree.

    I don't think anyone really knows how often Wills, Langford, McVey and Jeannette fought each other. Too many fights to count properly.

    .....lot of work on this thread, and interesting reading.

    but just for the record, charles is 5-0 against joey maxim....which makes his record even more impressive.,,,,maxim was a very good light heavy in an era of great ones.

    Yeah I know mate, he is overall, but not within the prime streak I specified. He's also 2-0 over Charley Burley, but a bit before he really hit his stride :good

    My intention was to tidy up our ideas of the prime years of these greats.

    Jeff Smith, the ultimate road warrior, was just inducted into the IBHOF. Greb beat him 6 times with one draw, though once was right before the George Chip loss, as in 3 days.

    Add 5-0-1 against yet another HOF'er.

    Craziness.

    Is he in, is he out?

    I could have sworn I saw him in there. Lufcrazy corrected me, I checked and he wasn't, so took him out, and now it appears Smith is in there (and rightly so). Will update, cheers :good

    I think it's 6-0-1 though, feel free to check yourself. And Langford's, with whom I believe Smith went 1-1 with, inside Langford's best years.

    My reading comprehension is slipping. I missed Luf's post.

    I just counted again, and he's 5-0-1. He beat him once before, but it was the fight before your cut-off (the George Chip loss)...

    I see where the confusion is; I measured it from before that to include the first win over Smith, and stopping at an older Chip fight in 1916. The loss you're talking about (22/5/1917) is marked as a newspaper win on Boxrec and HarryGreb.com, or as a simple 'no decision' on Cyber Boxing Zone, so it's included as part of the winning run, as well as that subsequent bout against Smith.
