The way I see it, since the Prescott fight, moving on to Maidana and Peterson, Amir really does fight like an amateur.
Yes he has good hand speed, but when he punches he stands straight up and that chin is right there to be hit, he also always over commits, drops that right hand all the time, these are bad habits he picked up as a kid in the Amateurs and Roach during the time he had him didnt bother to work on his defense didnt bother to work with Amir to get him to keep them hands up.

You would think that would be the first thing a trainer does, as most knock outs do come from that left hook, and Amir has always been open for that shot.

I fully agree that he fights like an amateur and will continue to do so. Freddie Roach did want to work on defense, that's the first thing he said he needs to do as soon as he got Khan in. Sadly, Khan wants none of it and never commits to it either, he feels the dire need to please twitter and facebook followers, that's just a fact even if it sounds comical. I would fully blame Khan for not listening, there is NO trainer that would ignore defensive training. Especially not Freddie Roach who clearly insanely improved Pacquiao's defense because Pacquiao was obedient. Khan however, has a completely different plan and it obviously involves jumping about like a kangaroo after attempting to prove his granite chin to twitter fans or kissing the canvas.
