The lad should just ****ing retire now, even before he's had his debut fight. No way anyone can take him seriously as a tough guy now. :patsch

He's already the most successful Olympian boxer in the professional ranks, without even fighting.

He's got the sort of mainstream presence already that eludes 99% of boxers. Already he has appealed himself to the national audience, and that's because he knows how to play the game.

I would wager that even if he never wins a British title, he will make more money in his career than all but maybe five/six British boxers have made over the last five years.

My Mrs knows who Anthony Ogogo is, but has no idea who Nathan Cleverly is.

He's playing the publicity game very well.

Fair enough if you're only talking about the last Olympics (even though Zou Shiming is a bigger name in China than Ogogo is over here) , but then very few fighters who competed in it have turned over so far. Makes the point of him being the 'most successful boxer to turn professional' from 2012 pretty irrelevant right now, IMO.

think is career will be quite fun

from what the games told me is he seems to always be 1 punch away from a kd and we will get to see schaefer have a heart attack.

Ogogo vs Eubank jr would make huge business and bring casuals to the sport

People seem to be forgetting that he's average and will get mushed by the first half decent fighter he faces.

Not really. Amir Khan was a good olympian and became world champ with some careful picking of opponents. I don't think Ogogo is that bad. Remember, his mind couldn't have been 100% focused in the Olympics because of his mother's illness. Who the heck could keep their mind clear with that going on?
