People really need to stop jumping on this bandwagon that Pacquiao's footwork is not good. You don't reach the level he reached with having bad footwork. He had extremely fast footwork which has made people believe that is all he had. The angles he uses and the footwork he uses to set up his best shots is nothing short of impressive when you take in to consideration the speed at which he is doing it.

Let's compare two former world champions (one a former Pacquiao victim, and one a former Pacquiao stablemate).

Hatton - Hatton had elite level footspeed, combined with above average footwork.
Khan - Khan has very fast footspeed, his footwork is average.

Pacquiao not only quite easily matched Hattons footspeed, he made Hattons footwork look worse than what it actually was. He hit angles at speed, made Hatton walk on to shots he didn't see, threw combinations on the move using that "not good" footwork of his.

You don't really need the Khan comparison because their footwork is night and day. And if you do believe that their footwork is comparable, then you should probably start watching more boxing.

My point being, Pacquiao has been in with boxers with better footwork than the above mentioned, and only on very rare cases has it been made to look not so great. These particular boxers don't need to be mentioned.

Kostya Tszyu had excellent non-flashy footwork, both offensive and defensive (more so offensive). Very efficient and clinical, brilliant controller of distance. Hatton's offensive footwork was underrated. Very fast on his feet, good at getting into range, good use of angles to deliver bodyshots round the back of the arms.

I've recently been watching a lot of Chris Byrd's fights, and his footwork and use of angles was wonderful to watch. Very skilled fighter. Amazing upperbody movement too.

Kessler used to have very good side to side movement, very quick and darting without being off balance, but seems to have abandoned that of late.

Of fighters today, I'd say Mayweather, Ward and Wlad have the best "footwork" (ability to control the ring, maintain their preferred distance, transition smoothly from front foot to back foot etc). Golovkin looks to have solid footwork as well, but is untested at the top level.

Pacquaios footwork is pretty superb in all honesty

His ability to pivot while punching, create angles, and get in and out is amazing

It's not orthodox, nothing he does is, but it's very very effective

Not only that but you rarely see someone have superior lead foot positioning over him

    Pacs footwork is hideous.
Guy just bounces around, always off balance, lunges in and the guy literally leaped off his feet and right into a 40 yr old lw fist exposing him for the glass chinned fraud he is.
Mayweather on the other hand has atg footwork, truly the greatest of his generation.

:deal :yep Pacs footwork is not even near to Alis level, shame about that since he has great footspeed that was up to his trainers to improve his footwork, but then again Roach should have teach him no to jump into his punches and he would not be knocked out but Roach did not.

Those days it is cool to describe Pac as a bum with great athleticism and almost no skill.

Pacquiao ducked the biggest fight of this decade because he needed 3 years to agree to steroid testing. ( now he says he has no problem as if he didn't kill the fight when it mattered most and instead told his fans clottey was a bigger fight)
PAC is a steroid cheat and his bs career will be erased from the books.
Why can't PAC use his great footwork to avoid 40 year old mens right hands?
He can't cut off the ring worth ****.
Notice PAC has trouble with any fighter that moves around the ring?
Watching PAC fight is like watching kids in grade five throwing wild punches with their eyes closed and jumping into punches.
PAC = biggest fraud/cheat boxing has ever seen.:deal

Pac's footwork does have some flaws, but what he does by creating angles, getting in and out while punching on the move is nothing short of amazing. You just don't see fighters able to do what he does with his hand and feet ; and it is technically brilliant. If people think Pac just bounces around the ring they have no clue what there looking at. This is something Pac and Roach work on in the gym.

Technically, you won't see more complex footwork then in that above gif.

Yes Floyd and some other fighters have better balance and make less technical mistakes, but I'd like to see them be able to do what Pac does in that gif above WHILE retaining their balance.

Pac has technical flaws but he still has / had the best feet in boxing.
