Which is it for you? For me, I'd say the first Segundo Mercado fight was his toughest fight. I've never seen Hopkins in such a grueling fight before, and he was fighting more than just the fighter that night, with the crowd, altitude, and other things against him as well.

Calzaghe presents better speed and technique than anyone he has faced, and although I will NOT take credit away from Calzaghe if he wins, Bernard can't throw as many shots, as fluidly, as he used to, and is now slower on his feet.

    This is his toughest fight.

I agree with the original post, Mercado must have been his hardest fight

Although after his pro debut id say he was wondering if boxing was his game at all!

roy jones jr ring a bell? Calzaghe is not his toughest fight to date. His toughest fight was the first fight with mercado. down twice, he dug deep and got that draw.

I haven't seen much of Hopkins early career. I will vote for the first Mercado fight.

How the **** is the Mercado fight tougher than the Roy Jones fight? Roy Jones clearly beat him. Mercado never beat him.

I would say mercado beat him up and Bhop was exhausted and had to fight a guy that was very aggressive. I have never seen Bhop tired in a fight since though. The guy is a perfectionist.

I'll accept that. The RJJ fight was tougher in the sense that he couldn't outperform Roy. The Mercado fight was tougher in the sense that he faced more adversity.

Damn good point! There can't be no one harder than Roy Jones! Roy totally outclassed and outsped this guy. This was no contest.

Hopkins is a conventional fighter who normally gets into sloppy mauling fights and he never seems to have a solid game plan though he does win most of the time. Big deal. But Roy just took him out of his game with speed. Too bad X didnt carry a big punch like the middleweights from the 80's.
