    True, he has few options.

But there will be a lot of complaining about the choice of Solis as an opponent.

    1) Odlanier's been inactive due to injuries and promotional problems (just one fight in 2012 and one in 2011),
    2) he's not ranked by any sanctioning organization and
    3) he has only one decision win in two years (over a soft opponent who Tye Fields and Manuel Charr KOed in round one)

So it will be difficult to defend Wladimir if he decides to fight Odlanier.

People are attacking Solis and I know he is not very dedicated but he is a better fighter than the likes of Fury or Price.

re 2: he was top ranked by one of those organizations until the Adamek fight fell through, not that it really matters.

I'm ok for Solis as a defense before Povetkin or someone solid in July/August.

Of course, I would prefer Wlad to fight one of these: Povetkin, Haye rematch, Fury, Helenius, Pulev.

But, after that Top5, there aren't really many options. Solis, Adamek, Arreola, Chisora. Decent names. Any one of those are ok opponents.

    Conclusion: Solis is fine.

What's the difference? Wlad slaughters everybody at this stage of his career. God Almighty and Jesus Saves, he bitchslapped David Haye until the punk showed his swollen toe. Noone competes with Wlad now so give him a gold medalist to feast upon. What's left; a bipolar Tyson Fury, stiff as it comes David Price or Wilder, Seriously Wilder???? Come on people, we are in the presence of generational greatness and Wlad Klitschko is the man at heavyweight for at least another three years. He has it all.

The World Boxing Association has decided to grant a special exception to heavyweight “super” world champion Wladimir Klitschko to take a voluntary defense before his mandatory fight with “regular” world champion Alexander Povetkin. Permission was granted under the condition of a Klitschko-Povetkin contract arriving at WBA Headquarters by February 28. The fight must take place before July 31. In the event no agreement is reached, a purse bid for Klitschko vs. Povetkin will take place March 18. Klitschko would make 75% and Povetkin 25%, unless Klitschko loses in his voluntary defense. In that even, the purse will be split 50/50.

I approve but it will only be decent if Solis is in good condition right now and gets into much better condition by fight night. In that case, it's probably the best fight out there for Wlad. But if Solis is fat atm, then it would be better to fight someone else--possibly Fury.

Very good. Wladimir is The Champ. Povetkin nothing than a contender.

Same split like the IBF for the purse bid.

Povetkin pulls out twice because K2 win the bid.

This time it is much easier for K2 to win the pid again (because they have only to pay 25%) so they will win again.

So many on this site claim that Solis is the best heavyweight in the world. They claimed he would knock Vitali out, but instead, Vitali knocked Solis out with a right hook to the temple in the very first round. Vlad will knock him out also. Vlad did say something about fighting Seth Mitchell, but Mitchell got knocked out. I think Vlad should fight America's biggest hero Wilder, some claim Wilder can never be beaten, well, if Vitali or Vlad every get Wilder into a ring we will see Wilder knocked out cold..................

If Solis really is the best option available then the division is in an awful state. Mormeck, Thompson 2, Wach and now a ring-rusty apathetic slob coming off an injury. One or two weak defences I can handle, but that would be four times now that Wlad has fought total no-hopers.

At least Solis has the virtue of being a highly skilled former Olympian, and has a current (though unearned) top ten ranking. But let's face it, he's not going to come into this fight in anything approaching fighting shape, nor will he be in any way prepared to give Wlad problems, as he might have done had he fought regularly and kept trim.

    Very underwhelming fight.

If pigs could fly... Solis would get a plane ticket.
