Time to create a Super Heavyweight Division?

    I think its time to create a new Super Heavyweight division for anyone over say 16stone. Too many of these smaller heavyweights like Ray Austin, Solis and Danny Williams in the past have been out of shape and not caring about the weight. I just think it would make more of these Heavyweights get in shape and also make it more competitive for them fighting similar sized guys. Also some of the bigger crusierweights could move up to Heavyweight leaving the huge men to fight at Super Heavyweight.


    Thoughts?

    Adding a super heavyweight division would be the worst thing to happen to boxing, being the heavyweight champion of the world means a lot still. This would make it mean a lot class to the normal fan.

    No, the lazy fat heavys should just get some motivation.

    It's hard to believe that some of the fat slobs even get a license, how can you turn up looking like you've spent your training camp in McDonalds and then be allowed a license to practise as a professional athlete in a sport that requires serious conditioning?!

    No, a super heavyweight division is a bad idea

    The only change I'd like to see is the light heavyweight limit moved up to 180 or 185.

    Yes, we should do it.

    There really isn't a connection with HWs of the past I don't think.

    I believe that cruiserweights of today will be similar weight in the ring to many HWs of the past?

    Would make no difference. Many of the smaller heavyweights could fight at cruiser easily as it is but don't as it isn't where the money is. Believe Eddie Chambers has said this himself, although he now wants to move down for a bit to win a title.

    The smaller Heavyweights would still want to fight in the glamour division, where the money is, and that would become Super Heavy.

    I agree the only change I would look at making would be to possibly raise the LHW limit. It's a huge jump from fighting at 175 to 200 pounds. Especially as some cruisers may be boiling down to 200, so 210 or something on fight night.

    Yet we see a small heavyweight in David Haye rated as one of the top 5 heavys in the midst of the so called super heavy era. Not to mention relatively diminutive Evander Holyfield got robbed against the biggest of the super heavys. Don't think its that much of a problem.

    Defiently not, maybe move cruiserweight limit upto 210/15st or as mentioned above LHW to 185 but no adding new divisions especially not above the HW division.
