a lot of things come to marketing, an as a klitschko fan, I think they did a poor job developing a market here for themselves. If they would of stayed with the US market for at least 1 fight per year in the states. They would of kept there HBO contract, an maybe would of had a USA PPV with haye....

I still think a fight a year in the states would work. Keep in mind, citys like LA, Chicago, ny, an other major citys have a big eastern European community, this is market that they let slipped away. Honestly with K2 promotion, they could had some nice undercards, they would of already of had a nice foot hold I think in the USA..... Sad when I think of it.

    Good point.

Better promotional tactics/change in styles would have gotten them a WAY BIGGER fanbase in America. HW is definitely the juiciest division in boxing and has the biggest potential.

Although the HW scene is abysmal, the majority of the fans don't know **** about boxing anyways. The Klits could have dominated cans and they still would have been big.

Tyson got out of prison and fought bums/cab drivers and still made shitloads. (Although this comparison is a tad farfetched, you get what I mean.

    They could have been huge.

They in fact have very fan-friendly personalities.

But for some reason American fans have preferred 'black hat'-fighters for a while...

Floyd also didnt really get any fans before he started being a black hat.

Ali the same.. and so on.

The Klits are white hats.. especially Wlad. No reason not to like positive role models, but some American fans prefer fighters who beat their girl friends and has all kinds of other issues..

The K. bros are very professional in what they do and if they would turn into some "entertaining trash talkers" they would be lamentable , so they keep the things cool and peaceful !

p.s son, I know that you are addicted of riding big black nails, but c'mon you have to refrain yourself sometimes !:deal

Yes. But another pojnt is that the US i no longer the mecca when it comes to HW boxing.

Those days are over.. so these days it is not like they will earn more if they make it in the US. Rather they make more money fighting in Germany.

    Modern world is changing..

K2 were welcomed by America and HBO with open arms except the kept blowing it over and over.
Nationality has nothing to do with it , bunch of clowns.
Manny, Cotto, Martinez, Adamek, GGG, the list is endless.
Boxing is a spectator sport. Without fans there would be no fights.
Fans want to see the best fight the best.
Wlad stunk the place out with with every fight and turned a generation off the HW division so he got booted out.
Even Sky Sports dropped him after the Mormeck debacle.

As a true boxing fan, I do not care at all about personality, nationality, skin colour or any other factors that are not directly connected with boxing. With that being said, I find both Klitschkos' fights simply boring.

Their opponents are mostly unskilled, fat, old, ex-CW or any combination of the above. And yet, insteady of destroying them quickly like Tyson or Lewis did in similar cases, they just put prolonged beating on them, waiting for accumulation or corner stoppage.

I think a fight in the winter or in spring time in the USA would be good for the brothers, April is the beginning of baseball season, an not much to get in the way of a nice Saturday night fight, also, early December in the stats would be good for a fight, cold, but nothing big on Saturday night. That what they should of been going for. You always can have a big out door fight in Germany in the summer. An keep in mind that the brothers have sold out in Newyork an LA, an did well in vegas. Once a year on both of there parts, would of left them two fights in Europe (four all together).

    You contradict yourself..

"Fans want to see the best fight the best" you say.. so the most important for americans is seeing the best?

Are the Klits not the best then?

Yes, they clearly are... and reality is Americans dont care much about who is best....

Do Amercans not really know boxing and just want some crude stuff? Think about how come Jeff Lacy was a million times more popular than Ward... I mean Jeff Lacy??? He fought noone! old Pemberton who was a nobody.. and came out of retirement... publically saying before the fight that he only took it so he could buy his mother a house. And an old Reid who is from a different era.. those were the ones he met before facing Calzaghe... pure rubbish and it is beyond belief that anyone would prefer such a obviously manufactured and limited fighter over much better fighters...

Until we are reminded that WWE and WWF and whatever they are called ... only really thrive in the US...

That is why it is no surprise that the Klitschos (like Ward) are not that popular among many of these same americans.

Wladimir is a funny dude. It took me awhile to realize this but the man has jokes.

He has a great personality. Never puts down his opponents unless in the ring of course. And the man is dripping Eastern European Swag.
