New PPV Format for Froch vs Kessler

I like this idea.

 

No doubt this fight can be picked up on a different euro station for free and you could get it with a different box and moving your dish

 

It says "Sky Launch".......**** all to do with Saint Edward

 

I think the website is reading a lot into this- I doubt Froch/Kessler will be Sky Sports because of the sheer costs involved. Interesting to see how Sky reintroduce PPV marketing wise.

 

I work for Sky, only in a call centre but i had to listen to the full statement today. The Jeremy Darroch quote has been lifted from Sky Q2 results release. The full statement doesn't mention boxing once, when talking about the day pass he mentions football, cricket and golf, not boxing.

Can't see how it can work as a boxing PPV platform, how would Sky and promoter determine how many people bought the day pass for the fight?!

Doesn't seem to make much sense to me in regards to boxing PPV. Sky pay matchroom a flat fee based on people who don't subscribe can now purchase a day pass? Who benefits? Matchroom lose out on potential PPV sales by settling for a flat fee. Sky lose out on sales as well by limiting the customer base to non subscribers to buy the day pass. Finally what people who don't subscribe to sky sports even know who Froch and Kessler is?

If PPV has to return then it makes more sense to have the same format just decrease the price to £9.99

 

Beat me to it. This is Skys package not Hearns and there seems to be absolutely no news on how, if at all, it will affect Froch-Kessler. PPV attractions could be exempt from the 24 hour offer or availaible at an increased price.

 

good news then if its not ppv and good news if you dont have or want the full sky sports package which a lot on here have said they dont

sky may use boxing as incentive for this ppv pass couple of big games n a decent fight surprised its not a weekend pass. they may even try and get some from america again, look out for big fights when the fixtures come out next season and the big games clash for super sunday etc

i read that every football game they show next season is costing them £14 million they have gotta do something to claw some of that money back doin ppv wknds mite help

 

Yeah Sky will invest in a product, however as others have said this new product has nothing to do with PPV boxing and nothing to do with Kessler and Froch. Sky are just trying to raise the profile of an existing service called NowTV which is bombing at the moment.


Also Sky must think that £5 makes a difference, otherwise the new day pass would be £15 and not a tenner.
