Ali Vs. Foreman, Big George was supposed to smash Muhammad Ali but... "Ali! Bumaye!" The Vet beat the NKOTB
Young star beats faded legend: Guerrero UD10 Casamayor Faded legend beats young star: Morales RTD10 Cano (maybe not star outside Mexican domestic level, but young undefeated guy who did go on to contend for a world title and get robbed contending in the next division up against Malignaggi...)
Miguel Angel Gonzalez Vs. JCC (Some think MAG edged this out) This was Old Lion Vs. New Lion. It ended 115-115
Sergio Martinez Vs. JCC Jr. The old man beat the kid pillar to post & taught him respect. Hopefully Jr. Now understands you don't play this sport.
Sugar Ray Robinson - Henry Armstrong An example of an upcoming fighter losing to an old great would be Barkley losing to Roberto Duran
I watched Duran v Moore the other week, I had forgotten just how brilliant and brutal that beating was! Moore and Barkley were actually very good friends who came up together. Barkley went into the Duran fight with the idea of revenge on his mind, and he tried to go to war with the old legend. The 36 year old former LW Duran beat him up for 12 rounds and made history :yep
How about Gatti Vs. Gomez? (Not sure the ages) But Arturo was defo the "Name" here & Gomez was the opponent.
In a way yes. I think because Floyd was already p4p king at that point (along with Bernard) 1 and 2. It doesn't really fit the cat. And Gatti wasn't really an ELITE boxer. He was a fan favorite and could brawl/box, but he was never really up there. ^ Yup
