I know, it'll suck to watch, but it isn't like this hurts Marquez's legacy. (as the first one didn't)
Low risk fight for both fighters & high financial award as well. Marquez probably knows that Mayweather can't hurt him in the ring or cause serious damage in the long run. Also like OP stated above, gives Mayweather a Mexican fighter as well as an opportunity to say "look I just beat the guy that KO'd Pac" to all the casual fans
it'll be interesting though, if Marquez loses people will say he wasnt that good and only beat Pac because of styles but it he gets another KO punch he will be top 20 ATG (not likely to happen though)
I'm cringing at how they'll sell this. Glossing over the non-competitive nature last time (or passing it off as some back-and-forth chess match with Mayweather just nicking all the rounds :! - or will they go the "Marquez is a NEW animal!!" route based on the KO?
Anyone who says Marquez "wasn't that good" because of two shutout losses to Mayweather DKSAB. Styles, yes, and being great. You don't beat a future 1st-ballot HOF inductee unofficially four times (and once officially by knockout) without being great, even if it's a favorable stylistic match-up. If he knocks Mayweather out, the universe will literally explode so rankings won't really matter.
Bradley fight makes more sense this is an ok fight, i guess for Juan it makes the most sense for revenge
Wow. Can't believe Lonesome Bob didn't get options on Marquez. Looks like Juan is in the drivers seat. He deserves it and I couldn't be happier for him. Hopefully he gets that big fat payday and rides off into the sunset. Certainly he's earned it the HARD way...
What I don't want is another Marquez loss to then be used as the sword and shield that justifies and ignores the reality that it was Marquez who faced and beat Pacquiao, not Mayweather. Assuming Pacquiao-Mayweather never happens, I'd rather history remember this era as a juggle between these three characters, all great for different reasons.
I'd rather see Juan go against Bradley, and/or retire to be honest. First Mayweather fight was too one-sided for a rematch.
