What glass? I've got no suspicions about Trout harboring any.

Now, that doesn't mean Canelo won't stop him...

    It probably won't be a one-hitter, though.

Maybe I was hallucinating, but I thought Cotto shook him up more than a couple times. Nothing even close to dramatic or "stunned," but shaken. Shaken more times than Cotto shook any of his 154 opponents, spare Mayorga.

But yes, I totally agree. No glass. Not a one shot drop, I'd be shocked by that.

at least on the esb forums?

the hates everywhere. my guess, a minimum of three to one against canelo. he fights cotto or angulo instead of trout there wont be any fans left for canelo.

and ill take the liberty to speak for the canelo detractors that this is not about how good austin trout is but how highly and absurdly overatted canelo is.

    this is the real deal.

all top five or top ten opponents in title defenses and none having to move up in weight or coming off a loss(es). also, broner is only one year older than canelo so broner fans have no need to use the bull**** "hes only 23" excuse.

this is not the real deal.

That's typical with fans because the majority are casual. Do you think enough fans gave a damn about Pacquiao before the Barrera fight?, I remember speaking to Filipino friends and randoms about him before the Barrera fight and barely knew who he was. One year later and I see people, not only Filipinos, sporting a Pacquiao shirt. It made me excited to see a fighter I always admired like Pacquiao finally get some much deserved and hardly earned recognition and respect after being overlooked, even by his own people, his entire tough journey.

I don't think the majority, specifically knowledgeable fans, pick Trout over Alvarez because they hate him. I admit I dislike Alvarez' early cashing out attitude before attempting to at least test his self against the many good opponents in his packed division. Trout has the style to trouble an aggressive opponent, this is a fight where Alvarez FINALLY can and will show what he's worth on the top level. I can't even rate Alvarez' punch resistance and power because he never fought anyone worthy yet and that, as a long-time fan, frustrates me into disliking him.

Im not sure if he will stop him, but I expect Canelo to hurt Trout during the fight, and maybe more then once. We will see though.... Trout will make it competetive but I do see Canelos power being the difference here. Just imo

Well since 'nelo and GBP are petrified of trout, we'll never know.
If you actually know boxing, you'd know canelo has very little chance
outside of a good shot of beating trout. Cotto applies forward pressure
with smart boxing. Canelo is a guy who is only dangerous from 3 feet.
If he traps trout on the ropes he has a chance, otherwise he's getting
    tagged from range all night.
    Trout UD 117-111

I agree, Trout had bad body language when cotto would throw. Like he was embracing for a big shot he wasn't sure he could take. But cotto at 154 with bigger gloves just doesn't have pop.

OK. I rate Broner ahead of Alvarez for sure, but if you think it's by leaps and bounds, I might question that.

You say none of Broner's opponents were coming up in weight. What about Ponce de Leon being a JFW and FW before and after? And that most think PDL won that fight. What about Escobedo getting outweighed, breaking contract, by 3+ pounds? Alvarez did the same thing with Matthew Hatton. But Matthew Hatton is arguably not one of Alvarez's 10 best wins.

If I list Alvarez's "notable opponents," not great wins, but notable opponents to whatever extent, I come up with: Rhodes, Mosley, Cintron, Vazquez X2, Lopez, Baldomir, Gomez, M. Hatton, J. Cotto, Ndou, Tyner. 12 fights, six or seven of which can be seen as total journeyman/gatekeeper type fights, and that's fair.

If I list all of the opponents Broner has faced who deserves being treated as highly or higher than Lanardo Tyner, I come up with: DeMarco, Litzau, Eloy, Escobedo, Rodriguez, PDL. 6 fights and that's it.

Lovemore Ndou shits all over Broner's opponents after those. Past their top tier wins, Alvarez blows Broner out of the water. My point here is that they are both so young, of course their resumes will be very thin. Alvarez has great depth in his resume, very solid journeyman/former titlists, regardless of the lack of a top 5 opponent.

Yes, DeMarco is a better victory than any Alvarez has, obviously. Prior to DeMarco, I will say that Broner was the most overrated fighter based on merit in all of boxing. Were those people right (myself included)? Yes they/we proved to be. But once again prior to that, only Litzau for Broner's wins would I rate higher than Canelo's Ryan Rhodes. Call me crazy, but I value the Josesito destruction, even never having fought at the weight, over the Rodriguez destruction. Both were impressive to me, because I know neither Broner or Alvarez are in the top 20 P4P so I don't expect them to fight top 5 after top 5 opponent. It's not the '80's anymore. Might they be among the 20 most skilled fighters? Yes they might. But it's what they've done. And while Broner seems fast rising and very soon to make this argument invalid for me as he's taking on Rees soon after top LW DeMarco, I really do think Broner and Alvarez are comparable, in terms of age, hype, accomplishment.

Broner and Alvarez, when you study their resumes which is what we are doing here as you posted their boxrec links, are far, far closer in accomplishment than you seem to think.

Another thing for Alvarez. "Oh, he has such a shitty resume, he's beaten nobody!!!!" Prioritize his top 10 wins with any other JMW; Lara, Molina, Vanes, Trout; and tell me that Alvarez's isn't better. Please, do this.

And before you get any wrong ideas, I rate Broner higher, I think Broner will be better, I'm a fan of both, but don't love either guy or even like either guy more than the other.

I am just playing devil's advocate here, so please don't throw insults or anything.

Canelo is too flat-footed for Trout.

Saul will hurt Trout. People liken Trout to Floyd because of the way he beat Cotto. Make no mistake about it, Trout is not Mayweather. Canelo's packing real power. Trout is far too hittable versus a bomb dropping and HUNGRY Alvarez

People riding Trout's lone performance into the wind. It's hilarious. Some fans just travel with a jetpack, waiting for a boxer to make a big underdog victory... then the bandwagon commences.

Trout will suffer pain at the hands of Alvarez. Mark my words

I don't expect any glass shattering if the two meet. I do expect canelo to beat Trout though.

rhodes was a legit win and thats it. consequently, he was kod by ramechenko in seven as opposed to twelve rounds(by canelo) one year later and in his own home country unlike where he had to fight canelo in mexico.

tell me why did canelo choose to fight cintron instead of molina? molina soundly beat cintron that same year. and why did canelo choose to fight williams when he clearly lost to lara? when does a champion make title defenses against the loser of a fight as opposed to the winner? also, baldomir had one month to prepare for canelo and was a year removed from his last fight.

as for josesito, he was theoretically coming up form 140 and he had less than a 50 percent ko ratio at jww. in fact, he was fighting eight rounders just a year and a half prior to canelo. furthermore, josesito had less than three months to prepare for canelo after the brutal war with ortiz, his first show at 147.

gomez is a career fringe conteder welterweight who, in his prime, was kod by cotto at 140.

in canelos five title defenses his opponents in their last three fights are a combined 10 wins and five losses.

in broners six title defenses his opponents in their last three fights are a combined 18 wins and zero losses.

as for broner, he has no hype. how many threads have broner here in the last 12 months? less than 10. canelo? probably 30+.

molina-kirkland, cintron and spinks(garbage wins), lara and chavez jr.
    lara-williams, molina, vanes, hearns(garbage), hernandez
    kirkland-vera, molina, prime angulo, julio,
    trout-rodriguez, cotto

but the most important fact here that you conveniently fail to point out is that canelo has been the champion for two years so his resume should be better than the challengers.

no one would hate on canelo if he was not the champion because boxing fans, real fans, know that canelo is denegrating the sport where as in the mma there is none of this bull****.

other than the rhodes win, everyone of canelos title defenses, including the championship fight with hatton, are flawed. not to metion that he has yet to fight a fighter in his prime, not coming off loss(es), haviing to come up in weight or having been previously ko'd.

unlike the resume of adrian broner.

The fact Hoya (who was willing to fight everybody ) is his promoter and mentor makes it worse. Fight Trout, not the end of the world if he loses. He'll gain respect and has years and years of earnings ahead of him.
