Pettis is faster of hand and foot and has a better idea of how to counterstrike. He has better timing and range. Plus the thing he will be able to exploit is aldo gas tank issues.
Aldo better fight him at 155. If Pettis' cardio, and speed isn't affected by the weight cut, Aldo may be in trouble. Pettis is an athletic, very dynamic striker. He will have height and reach on Aldo. Pettis also has power. Aldo was a little bothered by a few of those Edgar leg kicks. After taking a few, he started checking. He had a noticeable bruise on back of his leg as well. Pettis kicks harder than Edgar does, and his boxing is decent as well. He has more reach than Edgar. If Aldo can't put the first two rounds in the bank, against Pettis. He will be in trouble, because I don't see Pettis not taking advantage of Aldo's two round gas tank.
Edgar should have won. Several pros saw Edgar winning as well. He's really the best fighter between 145 - 155 pounds but has been denied that acclaim by judges scorecards. It's not an outright robbery because all of those fights were so close so there's nothing to be done about it.
No way should Frankie Edgar have won, he did not take that Title, and that's what it's all about in Title Fights. One has to be pretty bias to give him the majority of those rounds.... I haven't scored it since, but I saw all five rounds... I saw the damage on his face too... No way did he take that Title. I believe that Jose Aldo won that 5th round in the final minute or so, BobDigi will score again, but it looked like 4 rounds to 1 for me. Hanging in there and getting your face busted does not win you fights, Bendo v Edgar II was a close fight, not Aldo's last Title defense. Jose Aldo had Frankie Edgar covered in all departments and was a step ahead for every moment. Oh, btw... Aldo v Pettis on August 3rd :good
Edgar made the 3rd round close, but still lost in my opinion. Edgar won the 4th round. The 5th round was close, and to be honest, Aldo may have kept the 5th even enough to steal it with that jumping punch off the fence at the end. Edgar's problem is very simple, he is not threatening. At no point in that fight did I EVER feel as if Aldo was "in trouble" or "hurt". Edgar bounces around and scores points, but this is a fight and when you are cringing 2 or 3 times a round when Aldo lands something serious, Edgar's pitty-patty punches and kicks don't have that much effect on your opinion of the fight. Aldo knocked Edgar down multiple times with Leg Kicks. Aldo kicked Edgar in the face Aldo was snapping Edgar's head back with jabs Aldo jumped off the cage and punched Edgar in the face to close the fight. Aldo stuffed almost all Frankie's takedowns, a few times leaving frankie falling to the mat on his stomache When Frankie did score a takedown, Aldo was up in a matter of seconds. Edgar made the fight interesting, for sure, but saying he "deserved" to win that belt is ridiculous.
