Why aren't Paulie and Floyd fighting eachother?

I would definitely watch to see Floyd absolutely blow away a C class fighter with bad defense and no power...but Paulie is a terrible opponent.

 

Paulie got outboxed and dropped by a Mexican club fighter.

 

Because there are 10 better fights available spanning 147-154. And while some champions like Sergio can get away with fighting guys who aren't among his ten best possible opponents (Barker, Murray), Mayweather is held to a different standard, and rightfully so as he is the superstar ATG of the era.

I'd buy it and have interest, as they are two of my favorite fighters. But if I didn't like Paulie nearly as much as I do, I would be mad at the fight announcement.

 

It would look like one of those old WWF weekly matches where a marquee name comes out, goes through the full reportoire and spectacularly destroys a jobber just for the kids.

 

I am more interested in this match then with Guerrero that fought Berto.

 

Because Floyd almost always ducks slick fighters to pick on Mexican and Chicano brawlers or other come-forward fighters whose defensive weaknesses can be easily exploited.

 

This fight is worst than Ortiz, Marquez and Guerrero....

Malignaggi would have zero chance.

Would Floyd make $40 million+ for that fight?

Mayweather needs an opponent known for bringing the fight. Casuals know Mayweather isn't going to bring it.

If you can't convince a casual that Mayweather might get rocked, you can't sell a Mayweather fight.

 

People would go ape-**** if Floyd fought Paulie.

I actually like Paulie though.
