If it's about participation rates then it's Football isn't it.

Football is numero Uno because of Sky. Sky run football in this ****ry. Football is the monopoly it is today, because of Sky. Football has changed so much.

If Boxing or any sport for that matter got the support and financial backing that Football gets in this ****ry, you'd soon see another sport compete.

As it stands, Football is the be all and end all. And thats mainly because it has slowly but surely been aimed at a single demographic over the years. The Jeremy Kyle "We know what we are" brigade.

The "Sport" of Darts on Sky have also seen a rise, because they aim the product to specific people(s) to maximize the products profit. They turned what was ALWAYS a pub game (still is), into an XFactor style show **** up with a bunch of fat *******s flashing lights, boxing style walk-ons and music. That you can go to on the cheap, and slur/fumble to the top of your voice, barely being able to stand "Stand up if you love the darts"

Its pathetic really, it just shows how dumbed down society has become. Bunch of brainwashed zombies who dont even need to be asked twice to spend money. Bending over almost welcoming the butt **** with a smile. It's so easy for the people selling. We sold ourselves down the river long ago. Its so easy for the system. So easy to control.

Its the reason Football is so dominant, and why so many other PROPER sports get left by the wayside with no attention or support. Sports where you dont see grown men rolling about screaming like babies and feigning injury.

Sports like Bowls and Traveller horse-cart race days! But no, its football, football, football, 24/7 football, turn the channel over, football, watch the news, football. If it aint football, its something that happened of the pitch, some self appointed ***** saying "we must give Racism the red card" and all that bollocks.

    But we love it? Why?

I agree totally. Doesn't appear to be a popular opinion though. I'd like to see the argument against Sky totally ****in' destroying the captivation of 'new' boxing fans.

Of course it did, because it appeals to a certain demographic. Plain and simple. They have turned a pub game into some sort of show. It never was that, it always was a game. Never a sport, which they are trying to make out, it is not a sport. As much as they gloss it up and sprinkle glitter on it, it will always be a game.

Sky Sports are all about demographics and stereotypes, you only have to watch when the football is on, the sort of adverts they ram down your neck during breaks. Mobile bet in-play betting takes up 99.999%, because they know the sort of zombiefied viewers who are watching. Therefore they aim a product to that demographic. Why do you think they use so much dubstep in video packages? Some teen future Sky Sports News wannabee sat in the office knocking em up?

    Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

Darts used to be a family thing, aimed at all ages to view. Now since Sky monopolized darts when they formed the PDC, they are aiming it at a specific area. It has close ties to the UK binge drinking culture/Jeremy Kyle asbo zombies.

I've been analyzing and studying this for years. I know how they work.

Simple answer is, and if you want change, is to not give them your money. Which I don't. Understand who is at the head and dont pay extortionate prices. The product is clearly not worth what they set the bar at. Just look at last years figures released. They are making several billions and operating at around a billion.

Football is number one in this country for one reason.

    Sky Sports.

If they hadn't come along years ago with their millions, Football would have stayed true and gotten along just nicely like it used to. But no, the iron fisted giants came in and destroyed our national sport, and turned it corporate.

It sold its soul and with it lost millions of true football supporters who could no longer afford to pay the extortionate ticket prices they now dictate. It all went downhill when Sky came in with the money.

Boxing is still the toughest sport because of the risks. Therefore it should be the most respected......its a travesty to still see it get little respect in the mainstream. I can respect ANY boxer, but I cannot respect a multi-millionaire footballer rolling about on a football pitch screaming and faking injury.

Boxing may not be the number 1 sport in this ****ry to the ****ry, because of the money thrown at Football, but to me Boxing is number 1, and thats all that matters.

I agree, but it was nowhere near as far ahead as it is now. Because........

Sky Sports run football. Even more so next year with the new TV deal.

Just look how desperate the teams in the Premier League and Championship have become to stay in or get in the Premier League next year.

QPR: Harry Redknob - "We've got no money"....a team in the relegation zone then spend more millions on top of the millions they have already spunked. Sacking multiple managers in the process.

Forest sack a manager after 40 days.

Same **** going on at Blackburn.

Ferguson has reached new highs of dickheadedness.

Chelsea treat a human being like a piece of **** simply because he managed another "rival" with the fans failing to see what the real problem is. Their owner.

Football has become a circus because of Sky Sports. It's only going to get worse.

I've fallen out of love with it this year. I just cant relate with the game anymore. Its distanced itself away from morals (not that it had any) but more importantly, its become out of touch with true football supporters. And what more? A bunch of overpaid cheats who will lie cheat and steel doing their "job" all thinking the world owes them something on social zombiedia.

Luckily you won't read this Craney as I am thankfully on your ignore list, but you really are extremely clueless when it comes to pretty much anything sport related.

Football hasn't become a circus because of Sky it has become a global multi billion pound phenomenon. Every new stadium, every highly skilled foreign player etc. is all because of the money from Sky, before that the game was stuck in the 80's with horrendous hooligan problems, crap stadiums and kick and rush teams. If it wasn't for Sky the game may well have gone the other way.

You don't even remember what it was like before Sky came along as you're 21 and from Darlington anyway so why are you even talking like you know anything about football pre-sky?
