Very interesting fight. I think Selby stops him late because of the damage he dished out to Smith and Simpson but Lindsay is tough, has underated boxing skills and as others have said if he can handle the Welshman's power it could be a classic.

i dont get this selbys a beast remember his already been beaten (by samir) yes he stopped smith who stood infront of him no head movement or respect for his power til that good shot to put him away ( remember selby was vol defense not a mandatory), simpson was weight drained anyone who has seen simmo fight wud hav seen him take loads of them body shots ( hence move up to super straight after the fight). not saying i dont rate selby his a good kid and surprised alot of people knocking out smith and stopping simpson looks great on his record but lindsay is also a top kid and no walk over if he can handle lees power he will push lee all the way imo cud b a classic

It isn't like everybody's looking off Boxrec and basing their opinion off those results on paper. He looked damn fine disposing of Smith and Simmo, as well as Okine. It's this whole 2-3 year run of form he's been on. (particularly the knockout streak in the last two, but even before that improvements were showing)

Barely losing a minute against Ben Jones and Hamidi and stopping Davies as prospects ought to were all middling results but he was taking care of business and looking the goods in doing so. Then suddenly the penny dropped.

He dominated Ancliff - who although a late sub and only a month removed from getting whitewashed against Murray was nonetheless game and determined - and stopped him with the left hook to the body that has of late become his signature. Ancliff had been stopped only three previous times in 27 bouts: once on cuts by Jones, once early days by an Ugandan who'd previously upset a few other domestic UK prospects, and once via British stoppage whilst still on his feet against Jamie McDonnell who later climbed to Euro-level.

Then Swifty. The Barry man was seen to be facing a huge gulf in class and too much of a step up not to falter despite having some impressive showings at his back...he was a 6-1 underdog! Trailing on the scorecards, Selby battered the champ's body throughout the eighth until the arms came down and delivered a pinpoint left upper-hook to finish him off and deny the Smith clan the clean sweep the mainly lopsided showcase card was supposed to have set up for them. Smith had never been defeated, let alone stopped.

Simmo next. Many felt he got a raw deal against Smith in one or both of their meetings, and thwarting the man who'd just knocked him out was a stepping stone toward redemption in a third go-around...or at the very least bragging rights of having conquered his rival's conqueror. Again Selby was meant to lose. Again he didn't read the script. I was rooting hard for Simpson (being one of those who scored in his favor both times against Smith), and had Selby up 40-36 through four. He showed an educated jab from the start, applying intelligent pressure and softening up John's body. A left hook to his solar plexus just put a flourish on what had already taken on the appearance of an inevitable Selby shutout or stoppage. Simpson had never been stopped.

2nd defense, Okine. Finally Selby is the favorite, here against a teak-tough but unproven Ghanaian. Selby took every frame clearly, but Okine managed to eat quite a few shots and spot up on the inside for some roughhousing...and even opened a welt on Selby's eye. In the end, though, it was those hooks to the body that ended another class display of boxing. Okine had never been stopped.

Now we have Lindsay. A hard walker, who has mixed with quality opposition and mostly come out ahead (Matthews, Appleby, and Arthur) but hasn't faced anyone of note since a close loss to Simpson over two years ago. Back in those days, he would've been a handful for even this new-and-improved Selby - but with his style, his penchant for brawling, and being a featherweight with a decade under his belt he might be a bit older in ring terms than his biological 30. Even comparing Selby to peak Lindsay during his stint as British champion, there is little Martin did better. Selby has more dig, the more reliable jab, and the stingier defense. This is sure to be a slower Lindsay than we saw against Simpson, and his triplet of comeback outings last year isn't much on which to adjudge his current form. Lindsay has never been stopped.

    ...yet. :yep

I'm going with Selby by stoppage late on, Left hook to body. TKO9. Lindsay's a good fighter but think Selby will gut it out and face his sternest test and pass it.

How can he be overrated? Nobody gave him a pig in a poke against Smith, and he was even money or so with Simpson with many still not believing it wasn't a fluke over Smith. He dealt appropriately with Okine. What convincing is there left for him to offer up? You don't see anybody calling him a top 10 feather in the world. At a stretch he's called the best of the UK domestic crop and if he gets by Lindsay tomorrow there isn't any reasonable argument to be made to the contrary (barring I suppose that for a rematch with Mouneimne).

The worst "overrating" that's ever been done is when he came over Stateside a year back for some training at Mayweather's gym in Las Vegas and those stories came out about him shaking up & flooring Gamboa leading some to question whether his power was among the best at FW. Selby himself later admitted that it was all just rumors and that he and Gamboa regrettably never crossed paths as originally planned. (although he did spar many world class athletes while there, and gave Floyd himself a decent workout as well as schooling currently unbeaten Aussie prospect Joel Brunker)

Beyond that, I've never seen anyone put him over with any praise unbacked by merit and in-ring accomplishment. :conf

This is a good fight, Lindsay is a bit of an enigma. On occasion he looks really quite competent technically, very organised and he's tough. But occasionally he just doesn't turn up.

I'm rooting for Selby and I think he'll win. I like what he's about, no bull****, just a stupid moustache and an uncompromising style.

    take that back now.

Ive been a fan of Linsday for ages now, and that says a lot. Hes been about for ages, 10 years as a feather as IB said, hes 30 now and we must wonder will that take its toll. There looked to be a time when he was really going to kick on, but the Simpson defeat and 2 years on the sidelines wont do anyone any favours. Selby just looks so strong and sharp.

Im going tomorow night and im almost looking forward to seeing this more than Frampton.

I think Selby will stop Lindsay late on.

One thing is I think Selby is going to be quite a lot bigger than Martin, TBH. Might be an issue late in the fight where Selby seems to be strong.
