I agree it's makes a load of sense for him to want the fight with Mayweather but again, he'd be sacrificing his integrity as IBF champion for money. It was Andre Dirrell who once said "I'm a prizefighter, not a pridefighter." It's that sort of attitude which means that ***** will never be a world champ.

True champions are the fighters who have the balls to honour their words. Some fighters of course will prefer money to respect but those are the fighters fans like me and many others respect the least.

 

IBF are a joke anway-they didn't even strip drugs cheat Peterson for his title!

 

It's a difficult one. I'm a big Kell fan so obviously would love to see him and Devon get it on to decide a legitimate IBF champ but if Kell has to fight a mandatory and if it turns out to be Carson Jones then thats not such a bad thing and would allow us to see Kells progression since their last fight. IMO I dont think it would go the distance this time and Kell would KO him in 6.

From Alexanders point of view, it looks as though he would have to vacate to fight Floyd as the IBF have already said they wont grant him an allowance as the contract is signed. As we all know though, Devon doesnt exactly put asses in seats and its not as if he has a formidable reputation or '0' to protect, so he could conceivably make a cool $5million fighting Floyd (he'd never make that again!) get outboxed for 12 rounds and I dont think it would lower his stock. If he actually went the distance, it may even do him some good. He could then drop down to where he was before without his rep getting spanked too badly. I just think that if he has just weasled out of the Brook fight and faked injury to accept a higher profile fight then this is out of order.

Floyd has said that this year he will DEFINITELY fight twice. One of them looks to be Alvarez at the end of the year which will could prove to be rough going for Floyd. Guererro could also prove to be a bit of a handfull for Floyd so does he really want two tough old tussles this year? Devon provides a similar standard resume to Guererro with a lot less risk of Floyd getting hurt and after his last fight with Cotto, he really could do with a fight thats gonna make him look good (people will watch him whatever) so I would not be suprised to see Alexander vs Mayweather made.
