Norton landed one clean punch in the first two minutes, while enough of Ali's jabs and rights were landing to put Norton in a hole. Ali rolled with the right hand thrown at the minute, and didn't really start taking clean punches until the final thirty seconds. By that time, he'd landed enough jabs and crosses to take the round. If Norton starts throwing a bit earlier, and lands a couple more shots early, he wins that final frame. But he did virtually nothing in the first couple of minutes except follow Ali around the ring. By that time, the impression of Ali winning the round had already been established in the minds of the judges...and Norton's final flurry didn't do enough to dissuade them them from taking that view.
Duran/Leonard I. was a one sided afair. In fact it was a very comptive bout, with both Duran and Leonard giving and taking no quarter.
I see all the good ones are already taken so ill throw a few that, although not as good as those already mentioned, still get my goat The Floyd Patterson/glass chin bollox that gets trotted out to discredit FP as a lucky and limited fighter. Barry mc Guigan 'ducked' Azumah Nelson. Utter nonsense and did not happen. Yes AZ made the play for a big money fight and who could blame him, McGuigan was the biggest payday out there, but 'ducked' he wasnt.
jose napoles had toilet paper thin skin and a light jab or stiff fart in any fantasy match up will end it on cuts
Well, a lucky fart was the only way Billy Backus could have sniffed a championship.............. Get it? .....................Chrsit, I'm sorry. That really was embarrassing. I'm sorry.
"They gave it to Holmes" Howard Cossell commenting after Holmes beat Norton. They didn't give him anything. He thoroughly beat Norton; I had Holmes winning 7-1 through the first eight rounds. I believe Arthur Mercante had it 8-0 Holmes
