Gene Tunney fights Harry Wills, just before Wills loses to Sharkey. After Heeney, Tunney beats Uzcuden, Godfrey, Schmelling, Carnera and then retires. Or Jack Johnson beats (after losing to Willard) Sam Langford, Harry Wills, Jack Dempsey (after Dempsey beats Willard),Harry Greb,Tommy Gibbons
Lennox Lewis Riddick Bowe 1994 Micheal Moorer 1996 Ike Ibeabuchi 1999 Chris Byrd 2002 Wladamir Klitschko 2003 I'd say this gives Lewis a decent chance of being included with the likes of Ali and Louis when discussing all time heavyweights...
Let's give Mayweather a go: W Pacquiao W Barrera W Trinidad W Nelson W Wright/Quartey - W J.L.Castillo W Marquez W Cotto W Corrales W G.Hernandez W Hatton W Mosley W Guerrero Top 5 P4P ahead of Duran. 49-0
Manny Pacquiao - Floyd Mayweather 2009 - Edwin Valero 2010 - Sergio Martinez 2011 - Saul Alvarez 2012 - Lucas Matthysse 2013 - Adrian Broner 2013 Michael Nunn - Sugar Ray Leonard - Thomas Hearns - Marvin Hagler - Mike McCallum - James Toney - Bernard Hopkins - Roy Jones Jr. - Gerald McClellan
VERY weak names for Manny Pacquiao apart from Mayweather. Where on earth do you get Martinez from? Martinez is 160lbs.
Scratch Martinez from the picture then. Which names do YOU think would make Pacquiao's resume a lot stronger besides Mayweather?
because martinez was pursuing the fight and a former flyweight working his way up in weight and winning the lineal championship in five weight classes, including middleweight would be HUGE. whatever you think of martinez (i think very highly) becoming the true middleweight champ on top of being lineal fly, feather, super feather and junior welter champ is absurd
Kostya Tszyu beats the following guys: Chavez in 1995 at 140 (Really I should say Frankie Randall, because he was the better fighter by that time, but people would make a bigger deal out of it if it was Chavez) Pernell Whitaker in 1995 at 147 Oscar De La Hoya in 1996 at 140 Shane Mosley in 1999 at 140 Floyd Mayweather in 2004 at 140 I think that those names would give him an "arguable" case for the g.o.a.t, assuming he beats them emphatically.
Tito beats: Norris in 96 Ike Quartey in 96 Jose Luis Lopez in 97 Vernon Forrest in 99 Mosley in 00 This could possibly do it. But his schoolings against Hopkins and Wright would still not sit well.... And the DLH debacle would still look bad for him... Likewise in my previous posts, Tszyu's losses to Vince and Ricky would still grate.
