With rees taking on broner at the weekend it got me thinking of the toughest fights for a Brit away from home. I mean comparing their ability to the ability of their opponent. Cotto v Jennings Broner v Rees Mayweather v Hatton Taylor v Froch Ward v Froch Wlad v Haye Mormeck v Haye Kessler v Froch These are a few off the top of my head. The toughest in my lifetime was definitely cotto v Jennings. Jennings had virtually no chance whatsoever.
Murray vs Rios-yes Brook vs Alexander-no Surely the point is the British fighter was a real underdog who had an real tough task ahead.
The three that stick out for me are Howard Clarke v fernando Vargas Gary Lockett v Kelly pavlik Kevin lueshing v Felix trinidad All had 0 chance of winning and Clarke probably the least likely ever given his opponent
Hatton and froch had a chance of winning all be it a small chance. The same cant be said for lueshing, Clarke, Jennings and lockett
Rendall Munroe when he fought in Japan springs to mind as does robin Reid fighting for the title in Italy.
