Simone Rotolo 'It looks like being Simone Rotolo who I was supposed to fight in September when I pulled out injured so I suppose there’s a bit of unfinished business there,' he said. I suppose Rotolo is okay with 3 weeks to go,i was getting to think it would be a journeymen with the delay in anouncing the opponent, still not great that nothing has been confirmed with just over 3 weeks to go.
Hearn must do better for Barkers next fight because this is a poor for a mainevent at wembley, but he must of decided to go for the cheap option this time
Not a bad fight in all honesty, The card is pretty tidy with solid fights all the way through. I expect some fights to fall apart as is the norm but if it is to be Jones vs Purdy and Barker vs Rotolo along with 3 decent domestic title fights and Ryder, Ward and Ekundayo i won't be complaining. May 25th is a time to moan and groan if it's poxy undercard although i have half a feeling it will be...
Depth of the card is good mate and tickets are cheap so can't complain if you're local but not worth travelling down for me. Was expecting a bit of a step up for Barker if they're trying to get him another title fight in the near future.
Yeah i get you mate, I think the card's more aimed at Londoners. Cheap tickets and London/South East based fighters. Just comes across that way. It's tough for Barker only had a few rounds in ring and most of his possible opponents are either busy or holding out for other fights which make most sense to them. If by the summer we get another fight like this then i'd be a lot more demanding of Eddie as Darren hasn't got that long to hang about his body and minds been through a lot. He wants and needs a world title this year really..
Yeah agree, Hope was a good return fight and he looked really good and strong in that fight so expected a bit more of a step up and then look to a title shot again. Maybe Eddie trying to avoid anything too risky then look to the Lee fight with the winner getting a title shot, prob a smart move after thinking about it.
Yeah that makes sense, The Middleweight division is a bit messy everyone's got there own agenda's and diary's to commit to.
Announced by Matchroom that it's Rotolo. Disappointing. And thought Sky wanted 3 proper fights for TV? Only Purdy/Jones and Barker/Rotolo for this. Just look at Rotolo's run post-Sylvester...6 journeymen in 6 round bouts and two fights at domestic level in Italy. The guy he last beat has been over to Germany twice as an opponent in 8 rounders.
Not fussed about the opponent, Barker has been inactive, he needs rounds under his belt before going after a world title.
Pretty poor bill this. I don't mind Matchrrom not putting on weekly or fortnightly shows but only so long as the quality and depth of the cards they do put on is consistently good enough. Last Saturday was good but this is very average.
