I have been sitting on the fence with Broner for a while......not hating but not loving him either.

Yesterday I was again impressed....I like the kid - in terms of his boxing ability and skills

But he isn't on Mayweathers level yet but we can hope another fighter with the skillset of Floyd is no bad thing!

Agree while Broner is really good, he is nowhere near Floyd level lightweight Floyd would beat the **** out o lightweight Broner!

I hate to be pedantic here but nobody compares Floyd to Broner. People compare Broner to Floyd. You don't compare the gold standard to the unestablished, you compare the unestablished to the gold standard. Now that that's out of the way . . .

You can obviously see where Broner's developed the foundation of his defense from. At this stage in, and most likely throughout, his career he's just not nearly as proficient with it as Mayweather is. I would say he leans on his opponent more than Mayweather does and he also uses his forearms/elbows more than Mayweather does (which is something Money May is sharply criticized for) but he simply just does not roll punches as effectively as PBF.

Nevertheless Broner's an exciting fighter who we're certain to hear a lot about in the future.

I think he's only tried to be like Floyd outside of the ring. Broner's defense is good, but it doesn't look nearly as good as Floyd's defense because Broner isn't a boring type fighter. The mofo comes to fight and he doesn't care about taking risks.

Well Floyd is miles ahead in terms of defense but Broner is also in terms of power.

So yeah, the similarity is due to the fact that they try to market themselves in order to earn more. Talk trash then back it up in the ring.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

Mayweather took some risk back in his Jr Lightweight days and Light weight, minus the second castillo fight when he wasnt injured. But Broner more so utilizes old Mayweather's walking down/cutting off the ring style. He doesn't have the legs that young mayweather did, he has no choice but to take risk. What I don't understand though, is why people dislike him inside the ring? For a long time people disliked mayweather, called him a runner etc... now you have a young guy, who is not even in his prime yet, whose defense is heads above most in his era and will no doubt get better, who isn't dancing, but walking his opponents down looking to KO everyone he fights - guy is a puncher, and applies smart pressure. He goes into the fight and KO's a good tough fighter in rees, but somehow it's taken as some defeat because the guy landed a few punches in the first and second round? He was KO'd in the 5th, is that not enough? Does he has to be just like mayweather to get respect. Was SRL downplayed because his best Ali impression could never match Ali's foot movement?

The problem with this type of trolling, is that someone who is new to both boxing and this forum might actually believe you. It can be dangerous.

We will see his defense when he fights someone his caliber. Gavin looked way to small for him

Broner reminds me more of Andre Berto during his initial HBO run than Floyd.

why are people comparing broner to mayweather?

    let broner be broner.

if you cant see his skillset and potential then you are blind and havent followed boxing very long.

hell be at 140 soon enough.

Watching Broner's boxing style is like watching a **** tribute band.

Broner needs to stop obsessing over Mayweather and workout what's good for him.

I'd say 6 stoppages in a row is good.
