He stook around at super featherweight whilst weight drained, paid the price and lost his dedication to the sport. Shame, he is 34 now and not even a contender for the british title at what ever weight he is fighting at these days. The Burns he fought was a novice and also a short notice replacement if i recall, would be a different story if it was the present version of Burns.
Haven't seen the fight since it was broadcast live but I don't remember him beating Burns "easy" it was competitive for 12 rounds and it was novice Burns coming in at short notice.
He never beat Burns easy that was a cracking fight.. Yes Arthur one but Burns made a good account of himself.. Arthur was a good fighter had the talent to be truly world class but think he may have lacked a wee bit of something inside him to go all the way... Had a good career and sure he will do well out of the ring
Part of Alex's problem was that he thought he didn't need a trainer and could do everything himself a la Floyd. As Daviddee says,there was just something lacking,especially when it really mattered. Shame,I liked him as well.
