Yes or No, & to what level??? Pac/Mayweather big??? 1 Mill PPV buys??? Cotto big??? 300-500 thousand PPV buys I think he will be like a name like Cotto. To reach May/Pac level, you have to be special, almost unstopable. Broner @140 is very beatable. Also, Pac/May reached there stardom after the DeLAHoya fight, there is no one like that for Problem to fight. Floyd is his idol, fight will never happen. Broner vs Pac/?? Doubt it. Broner is building a name for himself, heif he cleans out 140 he will be a star. He has similarities to Floyd in that ALOT of people watch his fights to see him lose, & he also has the HipHop crowd behind him. Rappers want to hang out with him, rap with & about him.
I think he's about the only one at that age outside Canelo who is generating interest but he'll need good quality opposition. So yes,I think he'll do just fine.
It looks that way.....everyone is talking about him, no one is talking about Gary Russell Jr (unless its to critisize his level of competition) no one is talking about Gamboa. I think he will be about Cotto level in terms of buy rate no way he does Floyd numbers imho!
I love GRJ but he hasn't fought any top level comp and he conducts himself like a true professional and is respectful at all times. That doesn't bode well for PPV sales. I'd love it if he became boxing's next megastar.
Broner is being shoved down our throats by HBO... The forums here is the only place where I see people talking about him in a positive fashion...Everyone Im around says hes a ****** and have no interest in him ....then again I don't hang around with new age hip hop skinny jean wearing flash mobbers so that might be why.
I hope not. I myself do not go looking for the next ppv star. I hope ppv's leave when Pacman, Floyd & Cotto do altogether. He can be a star all day, but I fear the day they decide to tell me I have to dish out 50+ bucks to see him fight.
He's too annoying. He thinks being an ******* at all times if what it's about. It's not. Broner is a fool imo. He'll make for a weak main event. Needs good opposition
outside of forums, you dont hear his names. his fight results are typically not even mentioned on ESPN here in the states let alone any other sports channel.. I f you do hear about him, its usually someone saying "I hate the guy" for some stunt he did or said, NOT his talent Im not convinced yet
Gary Russell Jr will never be a big star.....he is a nice guy but nice African Americans do NOT do well. While we are on the subject of GRJ I feel he has some underlying issue, Im not sure what it is, shakey chin, bad hands (been alot of rumors about this) or something else but he is moving along VERY slowly. I like him, in and out of the ring but something doesnt sit well with him what do you think.....being that you are a big fan! His buzz has to start somewhere right? and considering some of the biggest stars in entertainment recently have started on social networks its not out of this world to think the next big boxer supported by a major network (HBO) might just make it big? I not convinced either way but I think he is probably the most likely out of the current crop, if you dont think it is him who do you think it will be Chef?
The guy already gets even more hate than Floyd, which is what gives Floyd the majority of his PPV buys. Add to this he isn't a boring fighter like Mayweather and has power. He is a young fighter and will improve even more. Him and Canelo will be the big PPV stars of the next generation.
IDK. I don't see him drawing on his own, at least not yet. Down the line there is a slight possibility that he might. With the incestuous promoting that's going on, it's going to be hard to market someone as a PPV attraction.
I thought it was Mitchell for HBO guys... but after banks..... no.... I think you could be right. Like the old saying... "no such thing as bad publicity. I dont like his antics AT ALL.... but it does get ppl talking and even the haters might start tuning in just to see him lose which means PPV BUYS bottom line... its like PBF, you know a fair amount of PPL buy the PPV hoping to see PBF Lose..... ALSO. The guy can box and is talented, I just wish he was a little more humble. If he was, IMO he would get to the top of the fan list much much faster... but I forget at times, he is only 23:hey
