Good. Showtime's broadcasts are more professional and have an old-school feel to them. And they've stepped up their production value from a few years back. When I watch HBO Boxing Cards, I feel like it's amateur hour with Kellerman, a cheerleader who is trying to convince me who to root for in Lampley (who is getting worse and worse every year), and an annoying, albeit passionate, guy in Lederman who turns in crappy scorecard after crappy scorecard. Even Buffer is slipping a lot now. Bernstein is great and so is Paulie. Even the new blow-by-blow commentator from Strike Force is solid.
On the one hand, Im happy, because Showtime has been putting in the superior work for quite some time now, and deserve to get this. Also, I like boxing so much more on their channel because the content they put out is just superior to HBO's. Really, thats all I should care about, and thats why Im mainly happy about this. On the other hand though, HBO is the king of american boxing. I think having the biggest and best fighters on the biggest network available is what is best for boxing, and thats why I like seeing the blockbuster ppv's on HBO, because they have a much larger audience that winds up tuning in to them. The more people to watch boxing = the better. Thats my only problem.... is having the best fighters go to a network where less people will potentially see them, I dont know if thats good for boxing. I know people will bring CBS into it, but that reminds me of what people said for some ppv awhile back (pac/mosley maybe?) and talking about how CBS was gonna make the fight huge n it hardly made a difference. Lastly, american boxing, imo, needs HBO. If HBO loses too much of a grip on the sport, I question how much they will continue to invest into it..... instead of trying harder maybe they start to try less. Idk... that probably wont happen but it does make me worry (lol) The more probable thing, im hoping, is that this competition continues to benifit the fans with each network trying harder. That is what was behind Showtime becoming such a quality boxing network, and it has payed off. Good for them. anyways, very interesting news and very surprising, imo.
Let's be real here, HBO obviously did not accept the proposed matchups by Oscars company thats why his boxers that he owns like floyd - are on sho
oscars company was not getting any more exclusive deals from HBO after last years bull**** big mistake from hbo
