Another (additional) reason Floyd left HBO for Showtime: Lampley's nascent racism?

The most egregious thing about it was the fact that Floyd had just established himself as the next HBO PPV attraction. Lampley was essentially saying, "don't waste your money to buy our PPVs and watch this coward fight". He was throwing the fighter in his prime under the bus for a semi-retired fighter who had seen his best days and had long ago reached the apex of his popularity.

It was very uncomfortable to watch and I felt embarrassed for Mayweather. He handled it with class, though.

 

I watched that video before thinking 'this is just a Mayweather fan who thinks he's hard done by by the HBO commentary team', but there's parts of it where it actually does seem like they're just plain racist.

I don't know, I always hated Jim Lampley anyway for his rampant bias. Definitely see some slight racist undertones too. I won't be disappointed whenever he retires.

 

I think he just doesn't like Floyd and speaks his mind more then others.

I am a Muslim who lives in the South and we have to deal with some of the most ignorant bull**** in America these days. I am in no way complaining. I love life. Racism will always be there. Jim Lampley, just like many other people, sometimes says ignorant ****. Like what he said during the Hamed-Barrera fight. I am a fan of Lampley and as a Muslim, I am not overly offended. When doing live commentary, **** comes out that they probably wish they hadn't said. It doesn't mean they are racist.

Oh geez, first he was insensitive, "the typhoon replicated". Now he's racist. Grow some pants people, if you think he's racist then you probably play the race card whenever it benefits you. People don't mind using the phrase "white trash" , "redneck" yet use words like "ghetto" and you'll be damned. Let's stick to boxing.
