I see him fighting Canelo, not Trout or Martinez.

This. If Trout beats Canelo, I see Mayweather looking to Bradley or Danny Garcia.

That would be great for him, but I'm not sure that will get him in with Floyd immediately either. Do you really see Floyd going to 154 for Cotto, 147 for Guerrero then back to 154 for Trout? ****, I'm still not sold on him vs Canelo next, if Canelo wins. I guess I just don't see Floyd jumping up and down like that every other fight.

Martinez fights TWO full weight classes above him. Don't see why he is obliged to take that fight...

He's 36 and the only one of them he *could* fight would be Saul. Trout's a large JMW. Too large to ask of a 36 year old

Yes, Hopkins' following did in fact increase. It was after the Trinidad fight that he got a lot of recognition only to see it slowly fade away, the DLH fight brought it back big-time. I remember personal experiences where people were finally mentioning his name because he was fighting DLH and claiming he's "too old" for boxing. That fight changed his entire boxing career after he signed with Golden Boy and so on. To suggest that fight didn't make him marketable is ludicrous.

In Trout's case he's going to get all the recognition he deserves being on an undercard of a massive event that is guaranteed to make $1.2 million PPV buys+. The Cotto fight clearly gave him a lot of recognition as you can clearly see a lot of fans demanding that Alvarez faces him, which is clearly the reason why Alvarez picked him. Winning this makes a fight with Mayweather even bigger.

He has no better options, that's all there is to this discussion really. Unless he goes ultra shameless mode and fights Alexander/Brook winner or even the likes of Amir Khan which shouldn't be surprising.

Alvarez only if he wins. If not then Marquez might be an option and I see a lot of ******s claiming the "new" Marquez will storm through Mayweather like a raging torpedo.

He'll fight canelo win or lose I believe.

When Judah lost to bald he still honoured that fight.

Because they were already scheduled/dated to fight and it was the only option. Baldomir was offered to replace and he priced his self out. Margarito was asked to replace and he wanted to go on with his mega PPV event against Gomez.

 i actually can“t see any possible match ups. You could have made a few but it would have always been one fighter coming of a loss or a long period of abscence from the ring.
Only fight that would have made any sense was Floyd - Berto but at the right time Ortiz jumped in and snatched it from Berto.

Oh, Peter Quillin could defend his belt against Jermain Taylor but Taylor seems to have personal issues.

Well like I said, he honoured the agreement and I think he'll do the same here whether or not canelo loses.
