This makes no sense. The fight is a cherry pick but if Floyd fights off the ropes(which h he does in every single fight) he'll get knocked out. Sounds like a risky fight not a cherry pick.

And Guerrero isn't close to Cotto's level and will not be more imposing then then a 154 pound Cotto.

Guerrero isnt as strong as Cotto, and I would argue that Cotto is a bigger man than Guerrero. Guerreros just rangier/lankier. Mayweather is on the ropes more these days but he deflects a lot and is good on the inside with short pecise punches. Guerrero is too slow to get to Mayweather on the inside or outside unless he uses feints which he rarely does. I think mayweather will likely dominate the fight after 3 rounds or so. Guerrero is thye perfect guy to make Mayweather look youthful.

 

not against floyd. Because whats the point in having good technique when the person your fighting has better technique.

At least Ortiz had the edge in a few areas against floyd which made him more a thread. Ghost has the edge in no areas.

Against Maidana or Rios, i'd give Ghost more of a shot that ortiz due to having better technique and that playing a factor in the fight.

But aginst Floyd, i can't see how ghosts decent technique will matter.

 

Why do people think Floyd is in danger on the ropes??? His defense is just as tight on the ropes as it is in the middle of the ring. You even have the benefit of slow motion to see how many punches he evades. Someone show me one time where Floyd was rocked on the ropes.

He is completely comfortable on the ropes and could dominate Guerrero 3 minutes of every round on the ropes. Looking at Cotto or De La Hoya as the ropes being bad for Mayweather is misleading. Floyd simply is not as dominant a fighter at 154. The ropes have nothing to do with him only winning 9-3 with closer rounds than usual, the weight does.

If Guerrero tries to fight him like Hatton did, he will pay for it and either go to plan b or get KO'd in a rough ugly fight between the 6th and 8th rounds.

 

The Ghost is going to get popped and stopped by mid rounds. I'd love to see an upset here, but it's not happening til maybe September.

 

Everytime Cotto hit floyd , it was either with a jab or a partially landed punch .

Cotto was never able to land anything FLUSH on Floyd . Therefore we cant really say Mayweather "took Cotto's best shot " Because that would not be entirely accurate .

But i agree , I highly doubt Guerrero will come anywhere close to hurting Floyd . Unless he lands a lucky bodyshot at the right time , But Mayweather being the defensive wizard that he is , Its very unlikely it will happen .

 

That is until the first 3 rounds are over and he realizes that he can't hit PBF clean with radar. He will then realize that he's out of his depth and in with a boxing master and it's different than it's on TV and PBF is a mother****er in the ring.:deal

 

No **** PBF is at home on the ropes arguably the best fighter of this era at fighting off of them. Some of the best PBF highlights have been when he was on the ropes.

The comparison was quickness and explosiveness, and technique and skill. There are a whole load of factors that come in to play, not just one single attribute. Like I said, I would much rather have technique and skill in my arsenal than quickness and explosiveness.

Only two size and power (and his power was very overrated leading up to it). He didn't use that effectively either.

Guerrero is more intelligent than Ortiz. He throws crisper, cleaner, technically better punches. He has more variety, throws better combinations. He can box to a gameplan. He can box at all ranges effectively (more so than others). He can throw a jab. He is an actual southpaw who can take advantage of the stance. I can probably go on?

I expect Mayweather to win, but Guerrero has IMO more of a chance at upsetting the odds than Ortiz did. At the very least I don't expect Guerrero to headbutt and then kiss Mayweather leading up to him getting knocked out after the ref says box and he has his guard still down. We may see a headbutt and that's it.
