If Duran had beaten Hearns/Hagler/Leonard 2/Benitez, would you have him top 3?

Not really. once it gets into top 10. Each spot is miles apart.

    But 8 is insanely high.

Man Duran was such a treat for boxing fans. Took on all challengers, at any of their weight classes. Even went up to 168 to face Ray.

My God. I hope we get someone like him in the future.

SRL calls Roberto Duran "the best."

When Suger Ray Leonard saw the fight where Roberto Duran beat Davey Moore (see: 31.43)

... "I just looked at Duran and said... 'Man, you know, you ARE the BEST... you... you're IT!' " ... Suger Ray Leonard

    I agree with SRL!:bbb

Quite possibly the GOAT. Certainly right there with the Greb, Robinson, Langford, Armstrong, and Charles class.

people always get mad at me for commenting on Duran threads. But people make comments which I have to respond to. Duran was at 154 before Benitez,Hearns,Leonard were there. He weighed more in between fights than those guys did, and he ended up in retirement weighing in about 250 or more. Hearns is probably about 210 right now and Ray 170 and Hagler 180. Roberto was not that small. But I agree, had he beaten those guys GOAT is definitly possible considering his lightweight reign.

Top 3? He'd be the best of all-time at that point, and there'd be no doubt about it.

It'd be hard not to call him the GOAT...with everything considered...how would he not be the GOAT?
