For his age Vitali has an excellent body. He's in-shape and although he doesn't punch quite like he used to, he showed he's still got reflexes in his Charr fight. As for his next opponent, I'd sooner see him retire, have someone fight for his belt, and have Wlad fight for that belt. No Hayes, Thompsons, Arreolas or anything. Q. When Wlad relinquishes his belts, will each commissioner hold a separate title fight?
Why does he have to retire just because of Haye? If he can still make money taking on no-hopers then he's entitled to do just that. It won't enhance his legacy any, and will make him look like a bit of a hypocrite, but so what? I'd personally like to see him retire so that Wlad can become the clear (not that he isn't already, really), but if he wants to fight on so be it.
Good post! The haters just want him to lose, or vanish that's all, butthurt if you ask me. If he continues and does not fight Haye then I am fine as long as he is fighting a very good prospect, if he retires then it is still fine for me, as you said retirement would favor Wlad.
I have been a fan of his since the amateurs and would honestly like to see him step away but there was supposed to be a decision back in mid December. Everything is getting dragged on and it seems quite clear he has no intention of retiring. It is getting to the point where Wlad may njever get his chance to unify. Must create an odd family dymanic behind closed doors.
I do not see the point in him fighting on. He is clearly limited by injuries in what he can do and the division has been cleared out of challengers- it must only be greed and his own ego that make him fight on.
How old was Foreman when he held the title, like 45 or something close to that? What kind of shape was he in? FAT Vitali is always in great condition, he may have lost a step in the last 3 years but the over the top hate for the guy here is very amusing. I personally hope he keeps going and breaks George Foreman's record for oldest heavy weight champ. I do agree its been very frustrating waiting on him to announce his next fight though.
Vitali needs to hold the belt until May 1st so he beats John J. Corbett's longevity record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest...ight_champions
everyone is saying how he's lost steam or is fighting injuries, where's the source for this? he certainly doesn't punch as hard as he used to, and he didn't get to use his left hand from his chronic shoulder injury vs. chisora . . . but the chance of the shoulder injury reoccuring is just a chance.
Would rather have Vitali as the champion, Cant see anyone in the division who deserves it as much as him (apart from Wlad) so might aswell enjoy him while we can
