Even before the rematch people were calling for Floyd to fight Paul. Of course Paul got put to bed in the rematch and Floyd was supposed to fight the winner but things never came to fruition.
that's not the point though. You said you rather him decline the fight than say he would take it and he never really did.
I would like to be able to take a man at face value....but with Floyd he's the kind of guy who will say anything at any given moment without really meaning it. It's safe to say he was never really interested in fighting "the Winner" of the rematch between Paul and Sergio. Martinez won and nothing became of it. Had Paul won....the same outcome would have been the result, which was no fight.
in boxing size is judged by weight Wills could still make 154 at the time, and manny wanted to have a fight there
http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/07...why-he’d-beat-the-pound-for-pound-king/ "He’s mainly targeting Manny Pacquiao who once again dismissed Williams instead fighting one of Williams’ most famous victims Antonio Margarito. First of all this is as pointless as Pacquiao-Cotto 2, it’s a washed up Margarito who is still struggling to get his license back in Nevada after being found guilty of loading his gloves before his fight with Shane Mosley. We don’t know for sure how many times he’s been using this plaster in his gloves but it is a huge conspiracy. Margarito hasn’t got his lucky plaster with him now and don’t expect much of a contest there especially at 150 where Antonio will be weight drained and use that as his excuse after the fight. So I fully understand why Paul is so angry about this, how can a guy you beat suddenly be fighting the best fighter on the planet after breaking boxing rules and losing his last major fight against Shane Mosley. While Williams is left looking around for a new opponent; and may have to settle with a rematch against Sergio Martinez whom he beat on a majority decision last year."
That last paragraph shows just how messed up boxing can be sometimes. Wiliams took a much less lucrative rematch and got KO'd while a cheater he beat got PPV money. It sucks to be the most avoided man in boxing.
