If he can't get a fight with the big names of the division, he should still try to make fight s with the next best fighters in the division an force his way up the rankings, right now he is very talented but it isn't as if he has done more in the division to deserve a title shot over some of the other top ten fighters.

 

He hasn't proven anything yet really because he hasn't stepped up. Khan was "proving" speed kills when he wasn't fighting anybody of note too.

He's a terrific talent, but going from journeymen to the likes of Ponce of Mares would be a bad idea. He should target a gatekeeper like Ramos.

 

Yeah, this Gusev stuff isn't cutting it.

About time. Finally will be able to see if he's the real deal or not.

 

Ha. This kid is still fighting 8 rounders because he has hand problems. Going 12 is a whole other thing specially against a heavy handed puncher like PDL or a relentless guy like Mares. Russell has not shown me anything to make me think he can hang with these 2.

 

If he can't then he will be found out. I just want to see him get a shot.

He hasn't even been in with a faded former champ or a decent contender yet. I love Gary, but he needs to be tested before being rushed up.

 

So why doesn't he fight Donaire or Rigondeux?
