Cung Le seems to think it's plenty useful but it's important to understand that in the modern era of martial arts and MMA - that no one style defines who a fighter is and rarely has an adherent to one single style been successful outside of the confines of their gym/competition/sport.
Cung Le by his own admission in a recent Fighting Fit magazine interview has a Taekwondo base with added "Kung Fu", MT and boxing elements. He's no bastion of Kung Fu by any means. As Sugar noted he's in the realms of MMA now so has had to adapt his current skills and supplement them with others to have any kind of success in the Octogon. It also makes him very exciting to watch.
