"Marquez is hurt bad!" "He's fighting as if he's injured a leg!"

If Marquez staggered even a little bit they would have called it a KO and halted the fight.

 

Exactly, it was a 3-2 fight in rounds either way.

The misconception by many is that Pacquiao was dominating the 5th and 6th up ti'll the KO.
The reality is that Marquez was giving as good or better than he was recieving in those rounds.

Pacquiao clearly won the 5th, but without a doubt it was Marquez who landed the harder 2 or 3 shots that shook Pacquiao to his core.

Pacquiao started the 6th strong, but Marquez was landing consistently harder and better the last half of that round.
You can say Pacquiao was winning the 6th before getting stopped, but certainly he was not dominating it.


No question about it though, Marquez because of politics being forced to fight in "seek and destroy" mode, certainly made the 4th fight the most competitive round by round of all 4.

 

Pacquiao was having more success than he had since the first round of their first fight.

He was landing some bombs on Marquez, lets be real.

 

Manny was landing more punches, winning on points and winning the crowd.
That does not mean Juan was not working his approach to this particular situation.
Manny could've been dropped again between the KD and the KO. Im surprised he held up. Marquez was put in a situation where he had to land wih different angles and different intentions.
The fight was not in either fighter's hands before KO :deal

 

Wow some of u sound butthurt get over it! Pac was winning but Marquez won the fight , be happy Mexican fans and stop crying!

 

Manny was up, and then he was down.

Down for longer than he was up, really.

That's boxing. You watch your step if you're fighting a counterpunch. Very literally.

 

Anybody who actually watch the fight without having their lips wrapped tightly around PACs **** knows that the only time JMM was really in trouble was in the last 20 seconds or so of the 5th round. Other than that, it was a very competitive fight until Juan gave Manny a one way ticket to Neverland.

 

I think by Marquez' own admission he felt that Pacquiao could have KO'd him at any point in rounds 4,5 and 6. These are his own words, not mine - Marquez wasn't getting destroyed, he's way too tough but he took a big beating in round 5. He was better defensively in round 6 but was struggling with his breathing and was getting popped a lot in the face

So yes, Pacquiao was not battering him but he seemed in control and was landing good shots regularly on Marquez but never at any point did Marquez look beaten, he always looked capable of finding that opening

 

Exactly. And Marquez nearly landed a similar right hand earlier. I have no doubt that Marquez was measuring Pacquiao from that point forward. The second time around, Marquez caught him and put his lights out. A win is a win is a win, and by any other name, still feels like a win. Looking at boxing history, does it matter that Walcott was way ahead on points, going into the 13th round in Marciano-Walcott I? No, and for the same reason--"The point of a boxing match is to inflict as much pain as possible on your opponent." Marciano knew he was still standing, going into the 13th, so he knew he still had a chance and he beat Walcott to the punch, knocked him out cold and won the belt. Like Marquez, with a devastating right hand. Kudos to Marquez, he never backed down the entire fight and he was fighting smart and hard, hard and smart. Amazing, too, that at 39, Marquez has still got it; he must train like a beast.
