Looks like it anyway. Says Lopez winning the title in '76, and looks like a faded Salavarria. Anyway, Lopez around his best form beats the arguably great flyweight from the Phillipines for the second time. Thank to Associated Press, there's some great stuff on there by the way. http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/P...g:Subject&productType=IncludedProducts&page=1
Not that I know of. Would be interesting I'm sure, an SD, and a past prime Lopez versus a green Zapata. lora will know but I've never seen it listed. A real shame that there seems to be no prime footage of Salavarria. Would love to see his KO1 over Chionoi or his steroid fuelled draw with Betulio.
Goes to show how Espadas ruined Lopez though. Went on a horrific run after that though getting fed to a monster like Avelar can't have helped. Lovely little Panamanian stylist though Lopez. Probably a bloody good fly on his best day (Oguma?) and I think he looked ace for much of the first fight with Guty before he got battered.
I always thought he was damaged goods after the 1st Espadas fight. Prior to that he appeared to have everything. The jaw appeared gone after that. Can't recall but wasn't he ahead in the rematch with Espadas as well?
Lopez just didn't have the chin or strength.Excellent little stylist on his day though, the Davila\kalule of the flyweights. He gave an excellent account of himself against Gushiken too, in a last hurrah sort of fight for him. Flea, i never came across zapata's fight with him.Might be out there now though, as i've not been trading or looking for rare fights for years now.Lopez vs Oguma wasn't out there back in the day either, i still haven't seen that one.Or maybe i do have it and just got lost in the shuffle. btw a fight with Canto for Lopez in 76 would have been a potential technical classic of a bout.
I've just ordered Lopez Vs Oguma funnily enough will upload it when it comes through. Maybe you need to pass your contacts on to me ;-)
I actually think Lopez had the better offensive arsenal than Canto, and with El Maestro not having the dig to turn things around this could be a potential banana skin for him stylistically.
Can you please tell me where you ordered that fight? I would love to know a good site to buy fights from.
No, i have some fights, but i want to build a collection. And no i don't have any footage of Lopez. I've just seen some of him on YT and read about him. But i want to see more of him. He seems to be a nice stylist. And buying fights are probaly the only solution.
