What happened to Sergio being "a natural 154 lber"?

:rofl That's why he should just leave Floyd's name out the mix. He clearly isn't his 'best' at 154. He's simply too big for any natural 147lb fighter. Anyone saying if Floyd fought and beat him at 154 there wouldn't be weight drained excuses are insane.

That being said, I'd love to see Canelo face him if he beats Trout... However I don't see him moving up to 160 for Martinez, so this fight is a no go at the moment.

 

Would be smart of Canelo to do it. He has the chance to catch the older, coming-off-an-injury Martinez at the right time, and then dangle a chance at the middleweight belt at Floyd Jr. The most favorable scenario possible for Saul to beat Floyd is drawing an older Floyd up to Middleweight.

Not sure if GBP would go for it though. They'd probably try and get Floyd in there with Ginger in September. If they can't do that though, why not take a chance at Sergio? Huge potential reward, not as much risk as you'd think; if Canelo loses, he can always go back to 154.

Also, is Saul tied to a Showtime contract, or is he not locked down to a particular network like Floyd is now?

 

Martinez can make 154 no problem to fight Mayweather but won't move down for any other fighter? Canelo would be make Martinez a fair bit more money than anyone campaigning at 160. You'd have to start to think that he's not as comfortable fighting at light middle as he makes out to be.

It's moot anyways as Canelo has no intention of fighting Martinez and will fight Cotto for more money and much less risk.

 

It's even more important that Trout kicks Alvarez ass, so Alvarez can get derailed paving the way for a Mayweather-Martinez clash

 

Martinez is a *****. What better way to get the Mayweather fight, than to fight Alvarez at 154?

 

I think Sergio would still negotiate down to 154.

 

Cabbies in this thread revealing why they're flawless cabbies by yet again proving their intellectual limitations. It's obvious why Martinez will move down for Mayweather, it's a pay-day he rightfully earned and probably the last of his entire great career and he deserves it. Alvarez isn't someone worth moving down in weight for. Even if he beats Trout this is will be Alvarez' biggest fight to date, it sure as hell isn't Martinez' biggest fight and not close.

 

Depends on how dominant Alvarez looks against Trout and how much the PPV sells.

 

If Alvarez beats Trout, it will make the Martinez fight even bigger.

Why not some catch weight like 156-157?

 

That makes zero sense. All this time, Martinez has been harping about how he can make 154 easily. Because, you know, he's really a 154lb'er fighting @ MW. So, instead of fighting Alvarez, one of the 3-4 most popular fighters in boxing right now, at a weight were (if Saul beats Trout) he could potentially pick up the WBA and WBC JMW belts, he'd rather drag Alvarez up to 160.

You can't use that dumb ass logic of "Saul's not worth it". He's more popular than Martinez ffs. atsch
