It's just a job for them, they are not fans of the sport. Guys like james kirkland openly admit they don't follow the sport at all.
Lol at James Kirkland though Boxing isn't a sport you get into because it offers an easy payday, it takes a lot of dedication and love So i'd say most are big fans, though not all
Mike tyson is one of the only boxers that I would say is a boxing fan, even when he boxed he still watched fights. He used to go to johhny tapia fights.
It's a pretty broad question... which is hard to answer and very hard to define. Asking pro boxers would be a good start? for pro boxers what is there to be a fan of? Other boxers? you can be a fan of one boxer.. doesn't make you a fan of the sport as a whole.
Spoken to many ATGs since the '40s 'n was surprised to find most were not fans. It was just a business after they stopped competing for ribbons 'n trophies. To quote SRR: "I'm a fighter, not a fan"
This is one of the dumbest things I have read lately.. Who the hell are you to make such a ridiculous statement?
From my experience, most boxers are a fan of the craft itself. They love to fight and they love to box but that doesn't mean that they are a fan of the sport like your usual fan... Most boxers took up boxing from an early age so they didnt have the time to keep up with the sport like the normal folks.. U ask most boxers about the different fighters in the current division and i bet you, more times than not, they dont know what you are talking about... They dont have time to keep up with that kind of **** cuz all they are concerened about is their own training and development..
I guess they must love it to get into unless their parents push them into it. Maybe after being a pro or even an amateur for a while seeing the corruptions and bad decisions made it might be less appealing to you and just considered a job
