Something I don't think was ever addressed by Lesnar, what the hell was his gameplan vs reem!? Like everyone else I thought he'd come out like a bull and go for the take down, instead he was on some jackie chan boxing **** and never seriously tried to take Alistair down. Of course he would of been wary of reems striking, but jesus that was a bad game plan. Of course the surgery would have taken something out him, but if you're gonna step back in the cage do what you do best at least.
I dont think people realize how much the surgery took out of Lesner. He wasn't the same fighter after and seemed timid and weak.
I think he was cautious about jumping in straight away (As Alistair was probably expecting) so he didn't eat some vicious knees in the clinch. I'm guessing his plan was to wait it out a couple minutes until Alastair loosened up a little then shoot in for the takedown. Only thing is, Alistair had different ideas..
For sure, do you think he went into the fight knowing he could not physically handle Alistair and so decided to take his chances standing? I mean looking back it seems like it was a suicide move on Lesnars behalf I wish he woulda spoke out on it but eh.
Yeah he didn't look like the same force he was in previous fights for sure, but like I say it still seems insane that he didn't so something, anything but stand up and backup.
i thought the same thing at the time. he looked fragile (if you could ever call brock that) and seemed to have no gameplan whatsoever. i picked overeem to win and i dont know if lesnar could beat him but he didnt even give himself a chance.
As I said at the time, and was ridiculed for it, Lesnar being good at wrestling was the biggest myth in MMA. He WAS good at wrestling at school, then he did the panto stuff then in MMA he had no wrestling whatsoever. I can't recall a single take down. He even missed a dazed Herring with a bull charge. Complete fraud.
This is what happened last time. Just give me one example of good wrestling from Lesnar in the UFC and I'll admit I'm wrong. Just one.
Oh come on his wrestling wasnt that bad he had more than decent wrestling. If you cant recall a single takedown then maybe its time to refresh that memory. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lyoU0qJOHM
