He was sick.He couldnt train like he wanted to because he was always tired for some reason.Im guessing hes still taking some rest.Thats the last i heard about him.
The problem was that he was over training. A young boxer like that should be in the ring not in the gym!
You didn't get that joke did you? Cote's nickname is Apu. Apu retired. He's a fat man now. Huge problems recovering from overwhelming fatigue in training camps, burnt himself out training in the gym and was diagnosed with a permanent illness which indicates he would kill himself training if he underwent another camp.
Damn shame, he is basically Canada's answer to Alexander Frenkel then? As in, a guy with lots of promise cut short by circumstances outside the ring (barring the usual cliche of legal problems, as is most often the case with "could-have-been" cases in boxing) His run of form in 2011 suggested he could've really lit a spark in the light welter and welter landscape of the last few years. I picture him (adjusted slightly, projecting a bit of polish as he developed) vs. everyone ranked top 15 at 140lbs and yeah, those all would have been tremendous action fights, and competitive.
