Oscar was weight drained

 

People thought it would be the end. It was just the beginning of a whole second half of an already historic career.

This is no secret. But ask yourself this: who else at the time could have jumped straight from lightweight and beaten Oscar that night, let alone put on that kind of performance?

 

I still prefer the Cotto beatdown for some reason.

But then again, a win is a win.

 

Can't blame Pac for Oscar being a complete zombie and being in the worst shape I have ever seen him.
Yes at the time people thought Pac would lose but you can't ignore the fact that Oscar was the most weight drained I have ever seen a fighter.
All that considered this win isn't all that great to me.

 

Pac was already coming into SFW bouts on fight night weighing as much as a WW, also DLH didnt fight at WW for 9 years.....

this fight was not impressive at all, Oscar was a shell of himself. :tired

 

This is why I laught at people who want Martinez to drop weight to fight Floyd at a catchweight or even at 154lbs. Sergio hasnt fought at SMW in 4 years.

 

LOL at boxing masterclass. Oscar was a zombie in the ring. Roach even commented on his track marks from the IV....

 

I view it much the same way as I view Ali-Williams. The performance is magical. The opponent, not so much.

1. The fight was at a catchweight. Manny only came in at 142lbs. Oscar was drained from 154lbs to not 147lbs, but 145lbs, and he was fighting at 154lbs comfortably for 7 years.
2. 'Jumping' weight class. Manny Pacquiao was a weight cutter. He cut weight for fights and he had a huge walk around weight.

- I used to think it was amazing that a former 106lber went up all the way to fight for the 154lb title. When he was a lightweight, he would walk around at welterweight.

- I used to have Manny in my Top 30 P4P because I thought he was moving up in weight the way Henry Armstrong did, but that's not the case, and Manny would be lucky to be in my Top 50.

 

Oscar was also 4 years removed from his prime. He was a walking corpse going into this fight. I give Manny ZERO credit for this win.

 

pretty much any lightweight in the world. oscar was 147 on fight night. ON FIGHT NIGHT.
