That was a ****ing woeful night. Terrible clash of styles Couldn't be bothered to score it but joe was trying to keep it going
it just shows that you save your posts on your puter It doesnt matter that it was a good card the decision was split ! Not all judges thought that Joe won- just like the fans you need to accept that PLease ask Joe to come back and unretire. He can make his record better all by himself if he wishes
When it really comes down to it, history will only gloss over Cal's victory. It will still regard Hopkins as the superior fighter, and deservedly so. Calzaghe does not get to sit around and ingest coke, yet enhance his own legacy off of the back of an older fighter that is still getting it done. You gotta make your own legacy. Joe's falls short.
Truth. Bernard's longevity, depth of legacy > Joe's I still think Joe prime beats Bernard prime. Way too good, too much workrate, too strong, too fast, adapts too well, spoils better than Bernard. Both HOF fighters. It's just that Bernard makes it into ATG, Joe unfortunately fells short (Although his record is amazing)
If you base on last night then dawson's win over hopkins is really an atg win in which is much better then calzaghe beating hopkins since most ppl thought hopkins won the fight.
Not "most" people, SOME people. Most had Joe winning that. Pretty easily too. 2 of the ringside judges had Joe winning, Max had Joe winning, Sugar had Joe winning, Lederman had Joe winning. Even most Americans had Joe winning.
Dawson doesnt need to piggy back wins in this way Joe needs to- as does his fans- because his record is so **** **** fight split decision no clear winner
Not an ATG win, but you have to give credit to Calzaghe for nicking the decision using his slaps. People may laugh at the slapping technique but it was an underrated weapon:- [yt]mhhlW2FX6Is[/yt] That **** there is what got Calzaghe through the BHop fight. Hopkins is the master at reducing his opponents punch workrate, and Calzaghe suffered the same fate as his punch workrate was also substantially reduced, but while his punch output went down, Calzaghe upped his slap workrate to another level something which Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins never saw coming. Switching from boxing punching to schoolgirl slapping was just one of the great chess moves Calzaghe played that night. Usually when a punch lands the opponent's line of sight is altered, sweat be flying off the cranium, and genuine pain seen in the opponents face, for example:- This content is protected But not when Calzaghe scored on the "punch" stats, and landed one of his shots:- This content is protected BHop still had his eyes firmly fixed on Calzaghe , but it was still enough to somehow make it onto the "punch" stats and that is what counted that night, and it was evident from the scenes at the final bell:- This content is protected ------------------------- But if people think switching to primary schoolboy slapping mid fight was the best move Calzaghe pulled vs Hopkins, they don't know **** about Hopkins. We all know Hopkins victims are never the same, and Calzaghe looked a little dodgy in his next fight, him completely avoiding the rematch, that could have answered some of the controversy surrounding the first fight with Hopkins may have been the greatest decision he made in his career.
I still think beating Kessler/Eubank/Hopkins/Roy (Even though) he was way past it, UNDEFEATED and HYPED Lacy, Manfredo Jr It's a very good resume no doubt.
